Hi all, I know most people on the list already know these links, but I often see people asking questions about some simple things. When I had to convince our people at the hospital that Zope was it, I created some small demo's, with the great help of people on this list. Very small! Although they're created for Zope 1.0.x, I think they can be used for Zope 2.0 too. So every newbie, have a look at http://www.master.cit.be/c8/default.html and go to the tutorials section (if you are only interested in small examples). multihosting / virtual hosting

hi zopistas, the zope-based school project i finished a few weeks ago is bearing all kinds of fruit. after seeing it a local software company in ann arbor now has one employee (a good friend of mine who told them about my project) write a white paper on zope and see how they can use it for their benefit. another friend wants to use zope to provide personalized homepages, but he is running against one drawback: missing support in ZServer for multiple domains. here's my question: is multi-domain support for ZServer planned or maybe even worked on right now? is it hard to implement it using apache and rewrite rules? Looping in DTML

Is there any way to do looping from within DTML? For example, I'd like to execute a method a certain number of times using a counter. Here's some pseudo-code to demonstrate:     If I can do looping, is there a way to break out of a loop? Thanks in advance.

Sidebar menus

Hi I'm trying to make a simple and fast sidebar menu. For this I've created a DTML method at the top with this code      <strong></strong> <!#else--> <A HREF="</A><BR>     Then I create a property for each folder (?) with this code. The property contains a list of string which contains the subdirectory Services|/services Infos|/infos Have I made a mistake coz' it doesn't work :( Perhaps there's allready a system that exists in Zope for doing this and I don't know it... Second dippy question of the day

I have a perfectly working query for MySQL: select nouns.noun, hull_class.ull_class, count(hull_class.hull_class) AS prob_count from problems, nouns, hull_class where problems.noun_rel = nouns.noun_id and problems.hullc_rel = hull_class.hullc_id group by nouns.noun, hull_class.hull_class Unfortunately, this raises a KeyError exception, and there's little or no extra info to debug this statement. How to install Zope on SuSE 6.1

Hi. It's the WNT-developer-to-Linux-wana-be again. I gave up on my CheapBytes edition on RH 6.0 and purchased SuSE 6.1 for various reasons. I tried to install Zope 2.0.0b4 after recompiling the 1.5.2 version of Python (with threads). No dice. I can't get it to work. IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/usr/local/Zope/Zope-2.0.0b4-linux2-x86/Z2.pid' Now, if I understand this correctly: A. ZServer doesn't like to compute the default hostname or can't. B. ZServer Monitor Server does not have permission to create and or update the file Z2.pid. I tried giving full rights to the subdirectory (777), etc. but this does not make a difference. If I try instead to use the version of Apache that SuSE installs I can run the test-cgi script just fine but can not run Zope.cgi. Under RH 6.0 I could at least get Zope.cgi to run (of course I could never get the auth rewrite rule to work.) I've searched the list email for help and found that someone else has the same message when they start up ZServer. I checked with him and he can't get it to work either. So, either he isn't begging enough or nobody knows how to get this to work. If someone would take pity a poor Win developer trying to migrate to Linux and Zope at the same time and help me install this thing so that I don't have to learn Java and Enhydra... ;^) Eric Miller phoenix(a)cac.net ejmiller(a)sweetsystems.com

Compile/install as one user, run as another

Let's assume that I compile up Zope as myself but I'd like to start the Zope daemon up as a sandboxed user (chroot-ed, etc.) What are the critical files that the sandboxed user needs to be able to read and write?
