KMNN allows people to write stories that are lumped into "categories" and subject to editor approval. It doesn't have a "login" at this point for the writers. That is actually something I would like to do, but I don't plan to do that until the Membership System part of the ZPT comes out. However, it would not be difficult to make it so that people have to login to write and submit an article. Articles in KMNN are stored in a fairly simple hierarchy (that you can browse through the standard Zope management interface). They are stored like this: ArticleStore/Year/Month/timestamp where timestamp is an instance of the KMArticle ZClass. KMArticle is folderish, so any pictures, etc. that go with the article are stored within the KMArticle object. The author, text, summary/teaser text are all stored as properties of the KMArticle object. If you want to switch later, you'll most likely need to convert the articles to a new format. I am actually doing this right now in switching the articles on byproducts.com from Folder objects to KMArticle objects. It is not very difficult, once you've got a handle on Zope and ZClasses. Another way to possibly convert things, if desired: you can export to XML and then try using simple text replacement to set up your new format. > ?. Since KMNN just stores the articles as ZClass instances with properties, the conversion is probably not very difficult. Inserting into databases

(This is why I don't think ExternalMethods are so advanced; once a form contains more than about 3 fields, the sanity checking is too complex to be sanely implemented in DTML.) Hi What was easy for me with htaccess files is now awful with Zope :) Just joking... but I sure miss something. I'd like to avoid any visit (except my managers) from outside on my Zope project... How to do that ? You will have to learn some new concepts. As a simple answer to your problem, you need to click on the 'Security' view of the object you want to restrict and turn off the 'View' permission for the 'Anonymous' role. You can also add *new* roles which do or do not have the 'View' permission enabled. I've read Brad Hull's comments and the discussion that followed with some interest, as I'm in a similar situation. I have both Zope 1.x and Zope 2 running on an NT machine and I'm currently doing some prototyping using Zope as a collaboration support system (essentially committee managment) and a system to deliver educational material. It has potential to go far beyond that in our environment--which includes 18 hospitals that are geographically dispersed (with one in Italy). We seriously need a multi-author information managment system that we can customize completely, and I see Zope as a framework that can provide this. Unfortunately, the current problems with documentation limit our work to limited "high maintenance" experimentation. What's really needed to solve this problem is a framework for creating the documentation quickly, and something to kick-start the effort. I'd suggest that DC, as a part of its scheduling of fall training sessions, create one or more training sessions on Zope 2 specifically for documentation writers. Ideally, these "Documentation Seminars" would be a partnership with the user community in which the training would be given at no cost other than transportation and lodging (which the trainees would pay for). Those interested in contributing to the documentation effort could apply to DC to attend the seminar and DC would choose the final participant list based on qualifications, available time, etc. In addition to a download of information about Zope 2 to writers, the seminar(s) would also include an organization session in which the documentation work was divided into specific assignments and timelines were set. It's in all our best interests that we get some quality documentation out as soon as possible. A concerted effort like this would be one way to harness the user community to do just that. Zope2 and Apache on Win32

Hi all, Has anyone yet managed to get Zope2 and Apache playing together on Win32. I know it's simple on Linux, but I've had no luck on Win32. Any ideas? TIA Phil phil(a)philh.org
