You can change the command line of z2.py in the registry. I am not yet up to speed on the use of the command line for ZServer.py, but I believe it'll let you use its commands to do it that way. automated setting of object properties?

I wonder if someone could offer advice on how to accomplish the following ... I notice that in version 2.x of Zope, uploaded images autmagically get their height and width properties set appropriately. This was not the case with version 1.x, at least for content import via the fsimport external method. I imported a slew of content with Zope 1.x and thus have a lot of images with height and width properties of 0. I would like to write an external method to scan through my entire database setting the height/width fields to their correct values. So far I haven't had any luck getting this to work. why does absolute_url now call urllib.quote?

Sometime on the way to Zope2, OFS.SimpleItem.Item.absolute_url was changed to call urllib.quote on the string it produces. This will break things that expected the previous behaviour... Getting PCGI to work with ZServer - how?

Hi, I've just upgraded to Zope2 (using the source dist'n) and I'm trying to work out how to use the PCGI facility of ZServer instead of pcgi_publisher.py with Apache. According to the README.txt for ZServer: To use PCGI, configure your PCGI info files to communicate with ZServer by setting the PCGI_PORT, PCGI_SOCKET_FILE, and PCGI_NAME. The other PCGI settings are currently ignored by ZServer. OK, so I setup the Zope.cgi file: #!/wrk/web/dev/pcgi/pcgi-wrapper PCGI_NAME=Zope PCGI_PORT=8079 PCGI_PID_FILE=/wrk/web/dev/pcgi/var/pid PCGI_SOCKET_FILE=/wrk/web/dev/pcgi/var/socket PCGI_ERROR_LOG=/wrk/web/dev/pcgi/var/log PCGI_DISPLAY_ERRORS=1 INSTANCE_HOME=/wrk/web/dev/Zope Start up Zope and the server is running fine. Then I try to access it via apache and get a "can't locate publisher" error. So I add the following line (assuming its ignored by ZServer): PCGI_PUBLISHER=/wrk/web/dev/pcgi/dummy.py Now all I get is: pcgi-wrapper: Interrupted system call (102) failure during connect All the HOWTO's I could find seem to talk about pcgi_publisher instead of ZServer. I guess I'm probably missing something basic here - any pointers?? Thanks, Chris

Two newbie questions

Hi, I'm new to Zope but have some programming experience and elementary web-design skills. I've been looking through the list archives, but haven't found the answers to a couple of questions. Hope someone can help. 1. Object reference across hierarchies. If I have a folder structure like this: A / \ B C / \ / \ D E F G Then I can reference an object in A, B, or D from A, B, or D using <dtml-var objectid>. But if I try to reference something in G from B, for instance, I get a Zope error. I'm not fully up to speed on the idea of namespaces, but I get the feeling that this is the source of my problems. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how force a reference to something in a different namespace using only its object id (that is, without having to reproduce the full url path). Could someone enlighten me? 2. Looping a lines property I've been trying to use the <dtml-in> loop structure to go through the entry in an custom ZClass object's lines property. But I'm not sure of the syntax (I've looked through most of the documentation and can't find more than a minimal description on pg. 44 of the Zope Conten Manager's Guide), and what I've tried so far isn't working. I can access individual line items using <dtml-var "objectid.linesid[n]">, but was hoping to avoid having to create an increment variable for n, test, increment, etc., since the <dtml-in> structure looked so slick. What I'm trying to do is to maintain a list of object ids in an object's lines property and then generate links (<a href=>'s) from the list. Hello, fellow Zopers - about the CIS..

Greets. I am the developer of the CIS project, and, would like to give a quick notice to all: 1. 1. The CIS project is a project aiming at helping communities everywhere build their own civic networks (there is a report on this at CIS's website). It is very different from anything that might seem to be similar in design. I feel the documentation is coming along well, and a clear understanding of what it is can be gathered from it. Anyone with qustions will be warmly welcomed to contact me (and maybe point out somthing I have missed). 2. 2. The CIS project is NOT competing with Zope in anyway. One of the main things we are interested in is the Portal Toolkit - it seems like a very good design in be incorporated into the CIS. If, somewhere down the road, we are fortunate to extend it's capabilities beyond that existing now, we plan to make the developments available back to the Zope community. Remember, Zope is the CIS's framework, the Portal Toolkit an engine. We are not attempting to replace anything Zope is doing. Zope is good. Zope is great.
