A tree and a form

Hei, Within a <form> I use a tree that is generated by an sql method already dicussed here on the list. After I opened a branch I want to select different leaves with a <input type=checkbox .. > . Problem is that when you open a branch select some leaves close it and go on to select leaves from another branch you are in troubles. Because when you reopen the branch all buttons are unselected. It's impossible to walk thru the tree, select some leaves and afterwards hit the submit button. So one of the possible solutions is to make the +/- signs submit buttons that save the selected items immediatly in the SQL database. Has anybody any other proposals or some hints were to start ? 5th Berlin Zope BBQ

TIA If, on the RDBMS, you changed the password of the userid that logs into the RDBMS then you will need to make a corresponding change in all of the Database Connection objects in Zope. Depending on the database in use, the connection string parameter of a Database Connection object contains the userid AND password. e.g., for sybase: user password server_name --Rob

Hello, I'm using Details: on apache redhat 4.2 linux Python 1.5.1 (#1, Aug 17 1999, 09:42:48) [GCC 2.7.2.1] Apache/1.3.6 (Unix) & Zope 1.10.3 I've tried a few things, got some help from here, changed dtml files, learnt all sorts of things about apache rewrite rules, but I still have the same problem: The "To add a new item, select an item type and click "Add". " button on the manage page won't work. All I get is : "HTTP 500 - Internal server error" I also discovered that other buttons on that page also do not work. The URLs the Add button tries are like http://linus/Zope/?%3Amethod=manage_addDTMLDocumentForm etc... my rewrite rules convert this to /home/httpd/cgi-bin/zope/Zope.cgi?%3Amethod=manage_addDTMLDocumentForm http://linus/Zope/manage becomes /home/httpd/cgi-bin/zope/Zope.cgi/manage and this works. I can force the various forms to appear by going to the URLs like http://linus/Zope/manage_addDTMLDocumentForm Does anyone know what is going wrong??? a quick note on a redhat 6.0/apache install

Having done great battle to get 2.0.0 zope working under apache, I thought I'd pass on a couple of tips: 0 - remember to run the install script in the zope directory, and check you have the zope/pcgi/pcgi-wrapper executable 1 - you need to add the required lines to the httpd.conf (/etc/httpd/httpd.conf) apache file as per the existing documentation. 2 - you need to make Zope.cgi in both the zope directory and the /home/httpd/cgi-bin directory *readable by the zope process*- which gets run as nobody - THIS IS EASY TO MISS!!!! 3 - user 'nobody' must be able to execute the Zope.cgi and pcgi-wrapper programs 4 - you must start the zope server (from in the zope directory, and usually as root ) by running './start -p ./Zope.cgi' (hey, there are other ways, but this is for a simple test) - and leave it running while you test access. 5 - With (from memory) the normal setup strings for httpd.conf, you need to access either http://localhost/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi or http://localhost/Zope/ *note the trailing slash- it's required* 6 - zope/var must be writable by the Zope server *and* (I think) by the pcgi-wrapper, so must be writable by user 'nobody' (this needs checking, it's from memory..) 7 - if things don't work, look in ALL the error/log files for hints (the files in /etc/httpd/logs and zope/var) anyway, hope these help someone, and I also hope the zope gurus out there will correct whatever errors I have included :) ------------------------------------------------------------ Stuart Woolford, stuartw(a)newmail.net Unix Consultant. Default arguments?

Hi, I have a method that is called as part of the branches_expr of a tree tag. (Thanks for the pointer to dtml-return, BTW!) I have a problem. I have some parameters to this method that I want to be optional. I was testing for them with dtml-if, and then calling REQUEST.set to set them to an appropriate value if they were not passed in to this DTML method. This seemed to work. However, when this was called from within the tree tag, for some reason, it complains that REQUEST is not set. I have tried every way I can think of to pass in both REQUEST and _, to no avail. My only other way that I know to set these things is with dtml-with, but since this is only called in some cases, there is a scoping problem; the closing tag would have to occur after the /dtml-if. So, this is out. I guess I have several questions: * What's the solution to this particular problem? * What's the preferred way to create or set variables in DTML? * Why does REQUEST sometimes disappear? I understand the search logic just fine (this is nicely explained in the DTML book). But, it seems to be ignored; why is REQUEST no longer present, and what can be done to remedy it?
