Strange Tree Error

Hi, I have a tree set up for use as my site map. I wanted to add Expand All and Collapse All features, which are no problem to add; the documentation covers them quite nicely. My Collapse All button works fine. The tree works fine, too, and everything can be expanded. However, the Expand All link doesn't work; it gives an error: Error Type: KeyError Error Value: branches And claims that something is referencing the non-existant branches. Here is my code. Methods transformed into Documents when FTP'd?

I've just started using EFS within xemacs to get at Zope (2.0.0; solaris 2.6). It seems that every time I edit a DTML Method it gets turned into a DTML Document. Why? How can I avoid it? How can I turn Documents back into Methods? (Rename, create method, cut from renamed document, paste into newly created method, delete document.. is how I'm doing it now -- ugh.) Help! Zope 2.0 upgrade problem.

Hi, I just tried to upgrade to Zope 2.0 on NT. The install seems to have worked properly (I can access Zope and the Zope management screen). However, when I copy over my var/Data.fs to the new installation and run that, I get a strange error. Portions of my web pages display the source code (instead of the fully processed HTML). I fixed one page which had "<FONT>" instead of the usual "<FONT>" and that worked (by updating the source through a management screen). Then I got caught with another page where the entire page displayed as source, i.e., the "<HTML>" had become a "<HTML>" and ruined the whole page. Has anybody seen this behavior before? What did I do wrong in upgrading to Zope 2.0? I guess my key question is: What are the correct steps to upgrade a Zope installation from an old one to a new one? I used the following steps (seat of the pants but...): Install Zope 2.0 NT. Copy old/Extensions to new/Extensions. Copy old/lib/python/Products/CustomOnes new/... Copy old/lib/python/Shared/CustomStuff new/... Copy old/var to new/var (I also tried just old/var/Data.fs to new/var/Data.fs). Is there a better perhaps automated and correct way to transfer from one install to a new one? Thanks for any solution/help/insights. = Joe "mystified by this one" Grace =

UserDb and non-authentication

I have a UserDb at the top level of my Zope Project, and I have UserDb set to Cookie Mode for authentication. However, I keep getting Server type authentication requests, that always fail, even if I use the superuser username and password that are specified in the access file. In reality I've been locked out of my project. Not to be phased though I have a work around that allows the UserDb authentication to work (2.0.0b6) If you change line 469 of lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py from md.validate=self.validate to md.validate=None Then UserDb authentication will take place instead of the bogus standard type which doesn't exist. How to display 'summary' data in ZCatalog results page?

Is this entity called 'summary' available for all DTML Document objects? If so, can I display it on my search results page? Alternatively, is there some way I can make Zope render the first 200+/- characters of the object contents itself (which I seem to be able to get)? I suspect not. Portal idea

Hi everyone, I'm brewing an idea here about how I might use Zope to create a portal site for my school district that would be a resource for our community too. This has so many possibilities, I don't know where to start. I've been making a list of all the cool things I could include that would be of interest to parent and students alike. So far it's a long list. One of the items on the list is a community-wide calendar of events. I'm posting this note to see if this makes sense. For my ZCalendar, then, I would want to list things like school sporting event, school music concerts, city council meetings, etc. Obviously, I could structure it in such a way that would give one person responsibility for the sporting events, another for music, etc. So, if I'm understanding Zope, the thing to do would be to create a ZClass called 'event' with properties such as title, time, date, location, etc. Could I have additional properties for certain events? Let's say sporting events would also have properties like sport (e.g., football), score and opponent. Now I could use ZCatalog to gather all of the contributed events and publish them in some format that I design. Is this right? Now let's say that the big football game is over, and we'd like to publish the score on our site. Could I then go back to that event, add the information to the 'score' property and have ZCatalog publish the results? RV: Registering users!!!

Hello I was wondering if there is a way to create an online form (much like the one on 'zope' beta site) to register users, and grand access to the site as well as being able to authenticate them when attempting to log in? as well to store some data from them, has anyone work one anything like this? is it possible? One last question how does the Print version option on the main zope site works? Thanks Sam
