Q: what is the parameter "_.None" in calls to document templates?

Hi folks, When reading zope examples I came accross a lot of calls to document templates, which use "_.None" as the first parameter. >From the docs I understand that the first parameter should usually be the containing object, i. e., for a dtml method the folder it is found in. I'd expect the latter to work for me. But whatever I do I end up with some ununerstandable error message. The problem: I have a folder hirarchy like that: common/Contacts docs Within the "common/Contacts" there are some DTML documents, one for each person. Those documents have properties like "surname" etc. There is also a dtml method "asOptions" like that: <dtml-in "objectValues('DTML Document')"> <option value="<dtml-var id >"><dtml-var firstname> <dtml-var surname ></option> </dtml-in> I tried to call that DTML method from within the "docs" folder, but the result I see is quite not what I want. I did: <selection name="xyz"> <dtml-call "common.Contacts.asOptions(_.None, _, REQUEST)"> </selection> This way no options at all are found. I also tried to modify the first parameter as "_", "common/Contacts" with errors like "KeyError: headers" and authorization faliure. Any help appreciated. But I don't know how I could modify ZServer that a SIGHUP will reopen files. Desktop Accessories

Hello. Every system that is complex enough to have a desktop (whatever it is), has a collection of toys (sometimes a bit useful ones) called Desktop Accessories. Usually there are Clock, Calendar, Calculator, Notepad, Notes and Cards. I think it would be good if Zope would have ones. We already have #calendar tag, but it is low-level thing. Writing Calendar product, though, is easier when having such low-level helper object. If noone implements these objects I hope to start working on it Real Soon Now, when I will have a little free time (that is - not real soon, as I have no much free time :). load_site

Hello, DigiCool, the creator of hot Zope! <APPLAUSE> Yesterday I've upgraded from 1.10.3 to 2.01. I exported old DB, compiled python with threads, compiled Zope2, ran it, converted export file and imported data back. All things were pretty smooth, and after import, Posttres connection reopened automatically - and my little demo was up and running. Nice, nice, good work! Thank you very much! </APPLAUSE> After upgrade I imported my entire homepage with load_site.py (old site at http://sun.med.ru/~phd/) new at http://sun.med.ru/~zphd/) All pages loaded ok, but I found that load_site.py just imported all HTML files as plain HTML, it isn't even parse titles. I think I can modify load_site.py to parse HTML files (I did it many times with htmllib). If you have no objection I'll publish my patch (where to post it?) My plan on work is the following: 1. Teach load_site.py to parse titles and import into DB only HTML body (skipping <HEAD></HEAD> entirely), and make the document to have parsed title. 2. Next thing to do will be to parse META tags and put things to... I think it will be properties, e.g property "keywords", type "string", value "home page, homepage, phd". Any ideas on this? I hope it wouldn't be too complex to create properties with ZClient? With these properties it will be easy to reconstruct the documents with standrd_html_header like: <HTML><HEAD> <TITLE></TITLE>  <META name="" content="">  </HEAD> <BODY> Not sure how to write the loop. ZClasses:

I am working on a folderish Zclass for encapsulating various incarnations of the same image. For example, instances of this class might contain a thumbnail, jpegs or gifs at different resolutions, and maybe even a postscript copy. To this end, I have created a DImageProduct Product, added a DImage Zclass derived from the ObjectManager which can only contain images and files, added title, caption, default width and height attributes, etc. I have modified the default DImageClass_addForm method so that title, caption and a default image can be specified when DImage objects are added. My addForm method has the following entry in the form: <INPUT TYPE="file" NAME="file" SIZE="25" VALUE=""> Therefore, in the DImage constructor (DImageClass_add method) I have added the following code in an attempt to conditionally create a default_image if a file was specified:  <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('current_date', ZopeTime())"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('date', current_date )"> <dtml-call "propertysheets.DImageProperties.manage_editProperties(REQUEST)"> <dtml-if file> <dtml-call "manage_addImage('default_image', file, '')"> </dtml-if>  This does create an Image object but the content is of type "plain/text" and the size is only 30 bytes (suspiciously close to the string length of the file specifier). Is it necessary to create the image object *and* upload the image data in two separate calls? Presumably "file" in the addImage method above contains the data stream but I cannot figure out how to access it (manage_upload(file) doesn't work). Any help is much appreciated. Confused about "configuration objects" in ZCMG

Hello all, I've been virtually tearing my hair out trying to figure out product distributions. I've made distros of some products (with zclasses) and when I've installed it onto the new/target zopesite, the product does not work. I cannot add the objects from the product. (that is, I cannot create instances of the classes in the product - they do not appear in the "Add List". On the original site - where the product package icon is "open", I can add the objects.) So I figure, this distro thing is not as easy it it sounds...so off I went to zcmg to see what it has to say about product distros. I followed the instantsite tutorial right up to the end. At the last page, deciding which to select as the "configurable objects"...I got stumped. The tutorial did not say explicitly which one should be selected. So I selected all of the objects. Installed it on the target server and...no go. There still isn't the item in the "Add List" - again, on the original (or source) zopesite, it _is_ in the Add List. What have I done wrong? Strange "print" problem

Hi When I want to print any doc on the Zope site, the navigator send me thousand of pages ! I click on the "printable page" link... What's the problem ? Easy one?

Hi! I try to make a tree view of folders and files in a document-folder. Thats not to hard, but .... Each user on the site has their own root folder, and can access only to that one not the other users folders. Now - making the tree the normal way displays all the root folders - how can I avoid this and just display the folder that belong to the authenticated user? (folder id == AUTHENTICATED_USER) ? Anyone Working on an Equation Display Mechanism for Zope?

Is anyone developing a way to display mathematical equations on a Zope-base web site? I'm wishing for something along the lines of an eqn->troff->ghostscript->gif_tile pipeline. It'd be neat if there were a ZEquation product that took a blob of equation text and when used in a link, provided a GIF tile of the equation neatly laid out. I can't expect the Zope engine to fork off a whole series of special tools in a timely fashion, so maybe a background process could scan the ZODB and insert the GIFs in some form of folder cache, using the timestamp of the ZEquation instance and a timestamp on the GIF cached item. Ideas? An easier way? -Jeff Rush
