(Michael, I moved this from the zope-dev mailing list to the zope mailing list because its content is more suited for the latter...) When you say that you can't you "move files bidirectionally" via FTP what do you mean? Do you mean you can download but can't upload? Zope's doesn't currently provide much more than FTP or WebDAV for interactive content editing in WYSIWYG or remote-editing tools. Devising methods to improve this situation is one of the goals of the Zope-Mozilla project, which I believe is still basically in the inception phase. If you've got ideas about how we can ease some of your Zope-caused pain, this is probably a suitable forum to let us know... Michael Waddell wrote: > > I searched zope.org for FTP. Seeking a customisable 'portal' app

Greetings. We have here a need to set up an in-house portal-like web site. Something where individual users can customise their appearance of the site so that its content is appropriate to the bandwidth of their net connection. I am thinking that someone may already have such a thing within a Zope application. Can anyone supply me with some pointers? TIA, Andrew.

Thanks to Chris McDonough for the help. My SybaseDAv2 is running, now! :) Before getting it to work, besides the shared library problem (/etc/ld.so.conf and ldconfig) I also ran into another problem. I will mention it so if other people run into the same problem they can look it up here. My Zope was throwing the error message: "The context allocation routine failed when it tried to load localization files!! One or more following problems may caused the failure Your sybase home directory is /opt/sybase-11.9.2 Check the environment variable SYBASE if it is not the one you want! Using locale name "en_US" defined in environment variable LC_ALL Local name "en_US" doesn't exist in your /opt/sybase-11.9.2/locales/locales.dat file" What happened was that in my locales.dat file, under the [linux] section, I did not have the "en_US" entry... I only had the locale = ENGLISH, us_english, iso_1 entry. So I had to duplicate this entry and change it to: locale = en_US, us_english, iso_1 After that, I restarted Sybase and Zope, and it worked. thanks again! This way it builds up its own table and the only way to fo anything to the look ist to redesign the existing styles using css. I guess an bar where the buttons are graphics added to the image for example at the bottom would be more flexible. You were looking for a solution to set up default display sizes... how about an Object "Photo sizes" that can be added anywhere in the hirarchy and sets the display defaults from there on. This way the values would be inherited further down but could easily be set for specific needs or overwritten. Jochen

More REQUEST.set() not incrementing

Hi again, No response to my first distress call, so I thought maybe some more details would help. When I insert some print commands, the assigned "counter" (u_*) variables exist, but are reported as being equal to zero (0). So, it appears that the original assignment is "taking". Except that when I look at all of the variables by printing <dtml-var REQUEST>, the same variables appear as being equal to one (1), so it seeems like the incrementing is happening. Except that, the number never increases beyond one, so that it seems that what appeared to be incrementing was really just re-setting the variable to zero plus 1 (0 + 1), as if each pass through the loop is refreshing the values to the original assignment. So, one might conclude that the _ variables are not persistent, or are too persistent, depending on how you look at it.
