Hi again, As you may have been able to tell from the voluminous quantity of posts I have been making, I'm working on a rather large project. It is mostly complete, and I am sitting at my client's getting everything installed on their servers. I had an interesting problem crop up. Using IE 4 in testing at work I put in the URL http://192.168.10.1:8080/FWF_Scale and got the index_html document displayed correctly, but the minute I attempted to load a different doc Zope told me it could not find the requested doc. They have IE 5 here, so I tried it here, but instead of using the IP, I put in the server name as it is setup in hosts. I get the same error using both the short server name fwf1:8080 and the long server name fwf1.farwestfibers.com. I came back to my notebook running NS 4.61 under Linux and all works as it should. Navigator under Win 98 also works correctly. I understand that most open sourcers don't particularly like MS products, but I didn't think they broke them on purpose! <wink> -- Stand Fast, tjg. PyJabber - OPENSOURCE XML MESSAGING COMPONENT

This was in the Documentation for Jabber - an Open Source INSTANT MESSAGING PRODUCT based on XML. http://jabber.org/ They have written a component that extends the Python Platform in XML. Here is a snip of the Description: "Python: PyJabber is 100% pure Python, portable, (optionally) threaded, compact, and trivial to integrate. It is fully functional and is ready for more testers, users, and being used to bring Jabber and real-time XML functionality to a variety of popular Python projects (mailman, zope, etc)." Methods inside a ZClass (fwd)

Zopists, Just in case our final thread didn't make it to the list, here is an external method by Tres Seaver to make the ZClass management tabs iterable in DTML. It is untested. Hmm, the class, ZClass, has a manage_options() method, but it has no docstring, and so can't be accessed directly from DTML. An ExternalMethod does the trick, though. Place this function in a *.py file in your $SOFTWARE_HOME/Extensions directory, and voil�: def dumpViews( self ): """ Expose the "Views" of a product/ZClass instance's as a tuple of dictionaries: """ return self.manage_options You could then iterate over the views in DTML: <UL> <dtml-in dumpViews mapping> <LI> <dtml-var label> </dtml-in> </UL> -- ========================================================= Tres Seaver tseaver(a)palladion.com 713-523-6582 Palladion Software http://www.palladion.com Thanks again Tres, All my best, Jason Spisak

Newbie question: updating properties

Hi! Happy New Year! I have a property x type int with value 1 The following piece of dtml code: <dtml-var x>, <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties(x=2)"> <dtml-var x>, <dtml-var "this().getProperty('x')"> prints 1,1,2 I wonder why it doesn't print 1,2,2 Why is the new property value not reflected in the dtml-var? anyone any idea's? Session Management

Hi, I'm going to try asking this again, as maybe last time I was too specific: I'm completely new to session management, so I started investigating some of the tools available, currently I am working with the FSSession Product. I guess my question is how does one effectively "clear" a session. In other words, I have data stored in the session that on occasion I would like to unilaterally throw away so that a new session will start. NOTICE: ZopeEdu status

Several people have been wondering what happened to the ZopeEdu mail list. >From the pieces that I have gathered, the server hosting the list appears to have lost its SMTP port. The admin is on vacation and the physical server is hundreds (and in some cases thousands) of kilometers away from any of the rest of us. So those of us that have been communicating via private E-Mail have decided to ride out the Y2K storm (this outage is no doubt due to a Y2K bug <smirk-giggle-gag>>. Actually, we have figured that not much is going to get done this weekend and are waiting until early next week to get things up and running again. If for some reason the list can not be brought back up on its existing site, we also have a backup plan. When things are back in order, we'll let you know right here. Using variables in dtml-var fmt attributes

I have string property named df with the value %Y.%m.%d which is a valid fmt value. I cannot use this variable in fmt attributes: <dtml-var ZopeTime fmt="df"> returns an invalid value. I tried with fmt=df and fmt="_['df']" without any success. Is there any way to use a variable for fmt attributes? NM
