Running Management Interface on Separate HTTP Port

My company is commited to implementing Zope for use on the extranet, and I'm kind of leading this new endeavour. One thing I stumbled across today was the issue of SECURITY. The Zope web app server and accompanying Oracle database will be run off the same machine on the extranet, so there's no security issue with our itnranet there. However, the consultant from the firewall company recommended that we use different HTTP ports for the customer interface/application and the management interface. I couldn't find anything that could relate to that issue in the Zope documentation, and a search through egroups.com only showed some message from someone who thought the management screens could be shielded off by only allowing HTTPS, but that's a different solution. Does this mean it simply isn't possible (yet), or did I gloss over some obscure functionality that could pull it off for me? Can't set security on file objects (bug)

Hi, I'm trying to protect some documents (binary) from being viewed. I've uploaded them as file objects, but I can't set the "view" security property from them. I get a Zope error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: tag I think I can achieve my goal with a protected directory, but I think this is a bug (Zope 2.1.4). I'm trying to make a very small knowledgebase kit to get familiar with the ZClasses and ZCatalog. I thought on the following : 1. I make a container ZClass which can contain other container ZClasses and KBItem (see 2) 2. I make a ZClass called KBItem. This contains the information of the problem. It also holds a string which is the same as the category string of its Container ZClass. It also holds a token variable with all the parent container classes. (How can I get all the category strings of all the containers to which the KBItem in this token variable?) How can I make it so, that the KBITems are cataloged on this token variable? Something I'm really not sure of : Can KBItem adjust itself (thus it's category string and token variable) when it is moved? Can a ZClass know when it is moved inside the ZODB? Will the catalog also be auto-updated? Thanks in advance, Tom.

DESPERATION: ZCatalog search madness

I've been tottering on the edge of sanity for a couple of days now, the launch of my site delayed indefinitely by the most bizarre problems with ZCatalog searching. Nearly all of the content I generate results from searches of catalogued data and without this I am sunk. Imagine a list of recent publications or a notice for forthcoming seminars that returns null or incorrect records. As an example, consider the following catalog of Journal instances. (Journal is a catalogAware ZClass.) I have a catalog 'publicationCatalog' with 3 catalogued objects. Excerpts from my index status tab: 3 object are indexed in Year (integer, FieldIndex) 3 object are indexed in Journal (string, FieldIndex) 3 object are indexed in Authors (string, TextIndex) Metatable data includes the above indexes as columns plus others. The following baseline Author search returns all 3 records. <dtml-in "publicationCatalog(Authors='Kivshar')"> <dtml-var Authors>, <dtml-var Journal>, (<dtml-var Year>).<br> </dtml-in> Ostrovskaya Kivshar Chen Segev, Optics Letters, (2000). Ostrovskaya Kivshar, Journal of Optics B: Quantum Semiclassical Optics, (1990). Ostrovskaya Kivshar Skryabin Firth, Physical Review Letters, (1995). Fine. However, if I now try and order the Journals by either the Year or Journal FieldIndices, the result is an empty search result! E.g., <dtml-in "publicationCatalog(Authors='Kivshar',sort_on='Year')"> <dtml-var Authors>, <dtml-var Journal>, (<dtml-var Year>).<br> </dtml-in> Next I set all of the Journal instances to have the same year, 2000, so that the baseline search returns: <dtml-in "publicationCatalog(Authors='Kivshar')"> Ostrovskaya Kivshar, Journal of Optics B: Quantum Semiclassical Optics, (2000). It looks like the imaplib.py your zope is importing hasn't been patched yet. stock imaplib.py has a bug, that results in an infinite loop. patching it should solve your problem. concerning the readonly INBOX folder using UW IMAP server, I've heard from other users that this appears on some versions of UW IMAP and some not? We're not using UW IMAP (yet), we use Cyrus. Maybe somebody else using UW IMAP has figured out what the issue is there and how to fix it? one product 'breaks' other products?

Blocking download of files...

Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible to block the abillity to download objects of type file (e.g. right-clicking on a file and choose "Save Link as...")? I'm asking because I have a site with PDF-files, which I want the users to read through their webbrowser (via the PDF-plugin), but not to download.
