This is probably really dumb, but I can't figure out how to do the following: Compare the ntype variable in the following code with a straight boring old string eg "BLOCKQUOTE" eg if nytpe = blockquote, then print text_content() in italics.. <dtml-in "getChildNodes()"> <dtml-let ntype="getNodeName()"> <dtml-if ...condition..... > print something </dtml-if> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> I've looked through the DTML help file but it's confused me more than anything else, I'm guessing I need to use the find(S, SUB[, START]) syntax as part of the string module But I can't figure it out.. there's no examples in the help of string comparison functions and what this _ business is all about, I'm sure after I see an example it will all become quite clear, but for the life of me I just can't get it sorted.. Hello, All. I am a Zope newbie. I am trying to connect Apache to ZServer by using mod_fastcgi. But Apache complains that the "-pass-header" option of FastCgiExternalServer directive is invalid. versions - actual usage

Hi Peeps, Im begining a Zope project, and the versions and undo features are going to be extremely usefull. The project involves the publishing of an online magazine. There will be a number of roles, including author and editor, and a process involving authors creating material and editors changing and approving material. Ive never had versioning facilities available before, and wondered if anyone has implemented a multi-user publishing system (or something like it) using Zope and might be willing to share some of their experiences and architectural insights, especially concerning the use of roles, permissions, and versions. A couple of questions about versions: Would using versions to 'archive' past issues be a bad use of versions? Is this actually possible? Is there a way to create a partial version, for example one restricted to a part of a tree? Is there a way to create a version within a version? Where multiple people are working on a site, is it best for each person to be working in their own version, or is it best for each section of a site to have its own version, or should their be one version which everyone works in? Whats the best way to leverage the facility of having multiple versions? Thanx in advance, Damien Morton

Hello, Documentation is one of Zope's weakest points. For Zope to be a popular application server and a vital open source project this needs to change. As you may have heard, DC is opening up a Portland, Oregon office. We've decided to take this opportunity to work on Zope documentation more seriously. The Portland office (that's me, Michel Pelletier, and Karl Anderson) have been charged with the mandate of improving Zope documentation. To this end, I've prepared a short plan which summarizes our goals and some of the projects that we're working on to achieve those goals. http://www.zope.org/Members/Amos/Documentation/Plan I'm interested in feedback from the Zope community on the plan. Do you agree with the goals and projects? What else should we be doing to improve Zope documentation? Optimization of Speed, Performance

I have read over all of the benchmarking and performance figures for Zope but has anyone written (thought about, scribbled notes) something about how to optimize a Zope installation? Thinks that need some consideration. - Memory Management (increase, decrease) - Cache Flushing - Threads? I am running ZServer by itself and it is fast, but how can I get it to go FASTER? Consider: FolderA SomeOtherItem FolderB ItemToExport I can export ItemToExport from FolderA by calling: (Item == ItemToExport) <dtml-with "FolderA.FolderB"> <dtml-call "manage_exportObject(id=Item)"> </dtml-with> New findings: I have found that I can export SomeOtherItem from the root by calling: (PathToItem == FolderA and Item == SomeOtherItem) <dtml-with "_.getitem(PathToItem,0)"> <dtml-call "manage_exportObject(id=Item)"> </dtml-with> But if I try to set PathToItem equal to FolderA.FolderB I get a KeyError: FolderA.FolderB Any thoughts???????????????? I have installed WP 1.01 on a fresh Zope 2.1.3. On the same RH 6.1 box, I am running the stock imapd, which I can connect to from Netscape's Messenger. The files/directories under /var/spool/worldpilot are owned by nobody.zope (I start Zope as root). When I log in, the browser spins after displaying the WP headers. top on the server shows the Zope python process (running as nobody) and an imapd process (running as me) sucking all the CPU, but nothing happens. If I click on one of the links in the header, I can see the calendar, to-do list, etc., but the mail pane shows a Zope error, with "readonly -- INBOX" at the foot of the traceback. Greetings: What method/property does one read from/write to to update the contents of a DTML Document. I'm trying to do this from an external python method. I've got the HTML text in a variable, I just have to write it to the right place. Where is that?
