OK folks, this is not an official press release, but I thought you all would like to know that there is yet another Zope site up an running out on the net. http://www.netaid.org Netaid is a new, long-term effort to use the unique networking capabilities of the Internet to promote development and alleviate extreme poverty across the world. The Netaid Foundation serves as a global exchange point to link people to successful agents and agencies of change. Netaid's mission is to use the powers of the Internet to help the millions of men, women, and children who live on the edge of survival. Our goal is to connect all those who share these common values to promote the useful exchange of ideas, challenges, resources, and success stories. Netaid works to: Facilitate community building, direct communications, and coordination among the millions of people dedicated to these aims. Act as a one-stop resource for people interested in making a commitment to change. Build new on-line tools to promote exchanges of ideas and success stories. Help our developing country partners get access to and learn to utilize new technologies. Issue periodic calls to action on items of urgency and focus attention on what works. The site is currently a hybrid between the old, completely static content and the new, almost entirely dynamic suite of applications built on top of Zope. Currently, the registration functionality, the entire 'What Works' section of the site, and the 'Online Volunteering' module are built in Zope. Check back frequently to see much more functionality that will be added over the coming months. In addition to Zope, the Netaid.org website is built on an almost entirely open source platform. ZClass

Hi, I'm trying to use the Z Class to make something. I already have looked into the Z Classe tutorial but I didn't understand how am I going to aplicate the Z class to solve my problem. What I'm doing is some kind of a addressBook. It would show a form for the user fill the fields with the name and surname, the address, the zip code, the city, the home phone, the celular phone and the birthday date. When the user puch the Add button it should send the information to a DataBase. The one that I'm using is the Gadfly database, but I'm having some problems to create the table, because I already create one but I can't delete that one, but its ok. Another problem that I'm having is that I can't insert the data from the fields in the table, so I can't list the records that are in the table to the user could see who is in. Do you think that Z Class would help to solve my problem? If so, how? Please, I would like that if you know how to help me, to be quiker, because I need it for today. Custom Formats

I'm interested in creating a custom format similar, but more limited, than the structured-text format. Is there a way to accomplish this without hacking on the base Zope code? From the description I found in the Zope documentation, it says that the value of a custom format is the "method name evaluated upon the object to be inserted". If I'm accessing a DTML_method wouldn't this mean that I would have to add something to DTML_Method (or create my own subclass?) Is there a better way to accomplish this task? What I'm trying to do is provide a way for my user to enter textual information without requiring the use of HTML. I want visible paragraphs to be translated into <p></p> delimited paragraphs, standard URL specifications to get translated into real links, and I want to provide a small number of additional formatting options. Any ideas on good ways to accomplish this task would be appreciated. Thanks. James W. Recently I created a new product in the Products folder. When I first created the product, I didn't have any python code so I didn't create a directory for the product in the Products directory. I simply used the "Add" button from the Products folder to create a new product. I then populated my Product with a couple of ZClasses. Yesterday I decided that I needed a new ZClass with a new Python base. I then created a directory under Products which had the same name as my Product. I added an __init__.py and a file containing my Python base class. In the __init__, I added my new Python class as a base class. I restarted Zope and expected to be able to add a new ZClass with a base class of my new base class. However, my base class didn't show up in the list. I looked at my Products directory and noticed that my python code had been compiled, so I knew that something happened. I tried a couple of different things and the base class never showed up. Finally, I moved my python code to a new directory and restarted. This time, a new product showed up in the Products list and my base class was now visible. My question is why? Why didn't things work when I created a directory in Products which matched a current Product name? On a related issue, I wanted to export my product so that I could import it into another Zope installation. However, my product doesnt have an "import/export" tab. Instead it has a "Distribution" tab. Using the Distribution tab, I can create a .tar file which includes an __init__.py, a product.dat and a version file. How do you use a distribution? Why can't I export my Product? If I add a new Product to the list, why doesn't Zope automatically create a subdirectory under Products to accommodate potential Python extensions? Thanks. James W.
