docLogin HOWTO for GUF

I have done all of the steps in the How-To: How To: Use GenericUserFolder with an SQL database document. However I feel that I am stuck, and the place I am stuck is with the docLogin object. PTK issues

For the past month or so I've been casually playing with Zope, but now I'm about to try using it in a serious application. I've volunteered to help create a website to replace the one currently at http://www.muq.org. Since one of my goals is to have a community-driven site which allows folks to create accounts, work on projects and publish information and news about those projects, I decided to try running the PTK. So last night I grabbed the latest version from CVS and began to set it up. Setup went extremely smoothly, and before long I had a basic and generic-looking portal site. My problems began when I tried to edit it, though. I'm curious; I've read so much about the PTK's new, frameless wizard interface, but I can't seem to find it. If I want to edit the top-level index_html, what is the best way to do that? Should I go to http://myurl.org/portal/portal_contents, or portal/manage_main? The "My Stuff" links seem to use portal_contents, but is that what I should use for editting the main index? Second, the main index_html includes the following: 5 Jan - Space for a NewsItem. So, am I supposed to edit that each time a new, newsworthy item is created by a member? I thought that, by approving news items, they would be displayed on the main page, or is this only on the "Breaking News" link? Thanks a bunch.

Heh, I wouldn't start about this platform thingy if I were you =) I don't know anything about Win2k, but I did see something on the DC support list about certain types of VPN software interfering. Both PGPNet and Connect for Windows, caused a similar problem (python.exe Application Error), which disappeared after removing them. Maybe some software component on your server is interfering with Python? Try a clean, minimal install of Win2k. Other than that, you could try the python mailinglist, as it doesn't sound like something particular to Zope. And ActiveState (http://www.activestate.com/) supports python on Win32, and Mark Hammond works there now. simple(?) newbie dtml question

How can I include a DTML method that renders correctly within another DTML Document when the method is in a subdirectory of the current? The DTML method is a simple HTML table that I want to embed in another document; it works fine if the method is in the current directory (<dtml-var table_method>), but I want to put it in a subfolder and call it. <dtml-var "subfolder.table_method"> works, but it spits out straight HTML code, not rendered. Any help on this? Thanks, Eron

Help Installing Zope Products

Hello, I'm starting to play with zope and I'm running into problems when installing "products." More specifically I'm trying to install Squishdot following the instructions in the distribution. Basically, I untar the files under zope root's directory (/var/lib/zope in Debian GNU/Linux which is the platform I use) and then I restart the server. I'm supposed to see the products right there or under "Product Management" but I see nothing. I managed to install ZPhotoAlbum because it comes with a .zexp file that allowed me to import the product into zope (I copied this file to /var/lib/zope/imports). But Squishdot doesn't have this. Can anyone give some hints on what I might be missing? Thank you in advance for your help. -- Pedro I. Sanchez

Batch importing stuff into Zope

I'm trying to batch-import about 300 JPEGs into Zope as instances of the Photo product using the following python script: from urllib import urlopen, urlencode from sys import argv from time import time # first argument is name of folder within the Photos folder url = "http://www.centralchurchyouth.org:8100/Photos/%s/manage_addProduct/Photo/ma…" % argv[1] # additional arguments are filenames for filename in argv[2:]: args = {} args['file'] = open(filename).read() args['id'] = filename args['title'] = filename args = urlencode(args) beforeurlopen = time() urlopen(url, args) print filename, time() - beforeurlopen The script works, but it takes an average of 30-40 seconds per JPEG. I've got a fast connection to the server, and the JPEGS are 40-50 k apiece. Uploading from the management interface takes 2-3 seconds. XMLDocument Question

Quick XMLDocument Question. A DTD that I am working with has a structure that looks something like this: <body.content> <block> Paragraph 1. Paragraph 2. Paragraph 3. Paragraph 4. </block> </body.content> I need to be able to use dtml methods to map such paragraphs to html paragraphs within a dtml document to display the whole document using Zope and XMLDocument as a kind of server-side style sheet.
