Altering values from HTML forms before SQL insert

I have a HTML form that returns a value that I need to alter before I pass it to a SQLMethod. To do this I created I've assumed I should use either dtml-with or dtml-let to create a new variable with my desired value and then call the SQL MEthod within the dtml-with. Some sample code is as follows. SQLMethod: ID:odbcInsertTalk arguments: LocationAndTime Query: insert into talk (LocationAndTime) values ( <dtml-sqlvar LocationAndTime type=string> ) DTML Document: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-with "_.namespace(LocationAndTime=Location+'--now')"> <dtml-comment> <dtml-call odbcInsertTalk> </dtml-comment> <ul> <li>Location: [<dtml-var LocationAndTime>] </ul> </dtml-with> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> I get my desired values for LocationAndTime for the code as shown however, if I uncomment <dtml-call odbcInsertTalk> then I get a complaint Error Type: Bad Request Error Value: ['LocationAndTime'] odbcInsertTalk works fine when I test directly from the SQLMethod manager page. I t also works if I remove the <dtml-with> and change the HTML form to send the exact name (of course this does not have the value I want but it does get correctly added to the DB) I'm using ODBC DA version ZODBCDA-3.1.0b2-win32-x86.tgz. Zope version: Zope 2.1.4 (binary release, python 1.5.2, win32-x86) Python version: 1.5.2 (#0, Jul 30 1999, 09:52:18) [MSC 32 bit (Intel)] System Platform: win32 Process ID: 217 (264) Running for: 3 hours 24 min 35 sec Any help would be very apprecitated. Scalability is very important to me. I have to keep in mind eventual load balancing: using more than one Zope webserver. So the session data must be accessible from many Zope servers. This makes the current FSSession and Gadfly-based SQLSession unsuitable. Current FSSession and SQLSession are all designed for single-server configuration. I could use SQLSession with another database, (including an independent Gadfly), with some optimization like keeping things in RAM during a transaction. Cron job or explicit cleaning will be needed to clean up the session_data table, if computer crashes. For the immediate short term, I guess I'll use this approach. RAM session clears the session_data automatically when the computer crashes. :) Performance is faster, reliability is about the same as an SQLSession. It's easy to scale up. When hackers attack, it's probably better to have junk filling up my RAM than junk filling up my disk/database. One drawback is it gets expensive when you have too many users... but that's probably OK. TinyTable & standard_error_message

I can't use TinyTable in standard_error_message. I have a tiny table "mainmenu" with two columns, mm_ref and mm_text. When I do: <dtml-in mainmenu> <a href="<dtml-var mm_ref>"><dtml-var mm_text></a><br><br> </dtml-in> in standard_html_footer, all normal pages are ok -- it does generate menu. But when I try to request non-existant document, zope immediately starts to print built-in error message instead of my standard_error_message content! If I remove these lines from standard_html_footer, everything is ok again. Why this happens? How to use TinyTable in standard_error_message? -- Roman V. first time - superuser authentication

hi zopers!, i'm trying to setup zope on redhat 6.1. i've installed Zope-2.1.2-3.rpm and Zope-zserver-2.1.2-3.rpm. i ran into some trouble logging on as the superuser. i found some archives from this list telling me to simplify the /var/zope/access file with superuser:123. i did that and restarted the server (using /etc/rc.d/init.d/zope restart). Anyway, i still cannot log on. So now i'm wondering whether there are any other considerations i need to be away of. i did find some information about some servers cutting out the http authenication headers, but i'm assuming that since i am using Zope-zserver, that won't happen. Could someone give me some advice on this matter. i would really like to check out Zope - it looks awesome! Hi all, As absolute_url, is there a relative_url? I made a grep on the source and found zero. But I found some posts with code using relative_url. On my dtml I receive a KeyError. MySQL Adapter for Zope Trouble

Greeting, I get getting a broken product witht the Zope MySQL Adapter. Is there an updated Adpater that works with the newer version of MySQL? I really don't want to test all version but would like to know. Dave

I am very new to Zope and am looking for a way to set up an internal web server (on Windows) in my office to provide a way to allow my users to upload a document (word/excel/pdf/etc) and give it name, provide a description, provide the ability to delete the entry, and revise existing entries by modifying the descriptions as well as uploading replacement documents. I could map a drive to the folder and allow users to copy their files to and from it at the OS level, but then they still need to add it to the web page. I am trying to make it as simple as possible without teaching anyone how to use Zope or html. A one step solution. Making the repository searchable or at least provide categories would be an added plus. Why does the MySQL adapter not work with MySQL and Zope

Hi, Recently I needed to upgrade my MySQL version and now my Zope database connection is broken. Is there a newer patch for the MySQL adapter? Using ZMySQLDA-1.1.3-nobin.tar.gz and ZMySQLdb-0.1.0. I used the Alan Progman instructions to install. Perhaps there is a better database that I can use that is less Zope fussy? It seems problamatic. Is there any hope of an improved Adapter installation method also? Thanks in advance.
