Hi Zopistas,  worked perfectly from version 1.10 to version 2.1.1. With version 2.1.4 I receive a Name Error. The "nnn" in "count-nnn" is the name of the variable you want to count. So, if your ArchiveCatalog list contains variables named "foo" and "bar", then "count-foo" will return the number of non-missing (not null) "foo" values, and "count-bar" will return the number of non-missing "bar" values. Doing one's part - pushing ISPs to host Zope

I have a contract to provide a web site for a local business. The owner is internet-savy but has no comprehension (nor desire to learn) html and web-authoring. His content changes regularly and he doesn't want to pay someone to tweak his pages. Oooh, oooh, Mista Kotta (allusion to '70s American TV), I have the answer. So I have been trying to get his current provider (located conveniently across the street from his store) to Zope host. I thought the Zope community might enjoy the following ... --------------- This is from the ISP in response to my initial query. Hi Robert, Thanks very much for your informed response. Ie., thanks for taking the time to investigate Zope. Just to clarify a few things. It isn't mission-critical that the X's web site be on line by 1 March. Steve, the owner, is happy with your service (and proximity) so delaying this for "a while" is fine. Here at the RSPhysSE at ANU, the IT people use Apache for most departments. For ours, they still use the same Apache server on port 80 which calls Zope via persistant cgi. You're right that the ZServer defaults to 8080. While this can be changed on the command line to a port of your choice, my preference would be to have it sit under the existing server. I didn't do the actual installation but I believe it was a simple matter of installing Zope and adding a rewrite rule to httpd.conf. In addition to the online help and active Zope maillist (~70 messages a day), I'm sure our sysadmin James could prefer a description of stumbling blocks to watch for. Also, there are a few ISPs in Australia handling Zope sites who could probably provide assistance. Webmastering isn't my primary occupation - I'm nominally a physicist (but more of a coder than scientist) - but I've become somewhat zealous about the benefits of Zope. I'm about to launch a new site with lots of dynamic content, user-customizable CVs, on-line publication and seminar database, etc., created by *one* person in a couple of weeks of work. I can leverage most of the utility Zclasses I've written towards new projects - things like images that hold copies of different resolutions, that can automagically render themselves with captions and links to contained movies, etc. It really is a remarkable paradigm - I just wish I could purchase stock in their (private) company. getPreviousSibling

I have a list of folders containing thumbnail images. In each folder I make a link to the previous and next folder with "getPreviousSibling" and "getNextSibling". This works perfectly in all folders except for the first one. This is my code: <dtml-if getPreviousSibling> <dtml-with getPreviousSibling> <a href="<dtml-var absolute_url>"><< <dtml-var title_or_id></a> </dtml-with> </dtml-if> And Zope says: Error Type: SystemError Error Value: infinite recursion in document template My logic says <dtml-if getPreviousSibling> should return "none" for the first folder like <dtml-if getNextSibling> returns none for the last folder in the list. What could it be? roché

Optimized HTML for the manage UI

Hi, I made changes in some of the Zope code that generates the UI because I often have to connect from slower computers over slow connections. I found that replacing TABLE tags with BR and nbsp elements lets the browser lay out pages much faster. Also, hardcoding image sizes makes a big difference. I made a bunch of changes, and the apparent speedup of the /manage interface redraws is nearly 2x, I'd say. Here's an example. Cut out the code below and save it as lib/python/OFS/main.dtml. (You may want to back up the original file first.) This will give the right hand side of the Zope Folder display a decent speed boost on slower systems, without changing the appearance. I made these changes on Zope 2.1.3/4. I hope including it here inline doesn't mess it up in a big way. Adding objects

Hi all, I've setup Zope and am attempting to add objects but keep getting this message: Server Error The server has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: IOError Error Value: Can't find a usable temporary directory amongst ['/usr/tmp', '/tmp', '/usr/zope/Zope-2.0.1-linux2-x86'] I'm sure it's a fairly simple problem. I've checked the directories which are all present and even tried changing permissions to user nobody but nothings made any difference. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Chris

ITP: m2crypto and ZServer-ssl

I'm planning to make Debian packages of m2crypto and ZServer-ssl. m2crypto is a Python interface to openssl. ZServer-ssl is, d'oh, a SSL version of Zope's ZServer. They all come as a single source package; there is more stuff in there, but I'll leave it in /usr/share/m2crypto/examples unless someone asks me otherwise. They're available at http://mars.post1.com/home/ngps/m2/ and soon http://www.hackandroll.org/members/ngps/ perhaps. I'm currently tailoring ZServer-ssl to work with Debian's zope directory layout, then I'll get to packaging. They're developed in... Korea, IIRC... by Ng Pheng Siong. I am in Brazil. user created folders and local owner role problem in 2.1.3

Silence was my part after an ealier effort, so I'll give it another try. I have a application for web supported learning, basically a platform where teachers and students can exchange information. It runs in zope 2.0.0. Users may create documents or folders by means of a dtml-method that wraps manage_clone. In version 2.0.0 the user automatically acquires a local role of owner in the context the folder or document involved. When I was upgrading to zope version 2.1.3 I noticed this automatisme did not apply anymore to folders, but only to documents: users are not given the local owner role in he context of a folder they create. Bug or feature? It is a problem, because what users ar permitted to do depends to a certain extent on ownership. Please help me out. tia, cb

The class term is defined as: class term: def __init__(self, id, title='', eqterms=[]): self.id = id self.title = title self.similar = eqterms def addmember(self, eqterms*): for term in eqterms: self.similar.append(term) where the addmember append the another term object to the similar list. where term objects is created in a folder called terms and searchable by catalog. How can a dtml to allow the selection from the folder or the search result to call addmember to add to a term the list of member terms?
