I just posted a modification to the ZClass solution which uses Lalo's RenderableZClass product to fix the problem. I haven't uploaded the modified STX_Document product, because I'm still wrestling with whether to force the dependency on Lalo's product. Thanks for the response. It sounds right to me, but the sql method seems to return an object. My skill with Zope or Python is not quite at the level where I know how to interrogate this object for a record count. When I use the following test code (where upd is the id of the SQLMethod) <dtml-let foo="upd()"> foo is <dtml-var foo> </dtml-let> I get back foo is <Shared.DC.ZRDB.RDB.DatabaseResults instance at e7fef0> Right now I am trying out a SELECT with a <dtml-raise> prior to issuing the update. It's non-atomic and thus not ideal, but is an acceptable workaround until I can find a production worthy solution. I am still open to any and all suggestions. BTW, once I figure this out, I am definitely going to write it up. Apache + ZServer + SiteAccess

Hi, I was previously using the fastcgi solution but recently switched to use anser's solution as given in the how-to: http://www.zope.org/Members/anser/apache_zserver Everything has been working solidly (and fast!) until I found out that it can't seem to do a recatalog properly. Details are: Zope 2.1.4 + apache 1.3.9 on Debian potato. Zope is served off http://myserver.com/Zope/. I have a product called Sample that subclasses ZCatalog and reindexes its objects when edited. However, now when I tried to perform an edit, the following error message results: Error Type: ValueError Error Value: Uncatalog of absent id 'Zope/Sample/Object1'  My guess is that it was previously catalogued as 'Sample/Object1' but ZCatalog now gets the uid of the object as 'Zope/Sample/Object1'. Is there anything that I can do to overcome this? Will installing a SiteRoot in Catalog (my default catalog object) itself help? Any help is appreciated, Thanks Meng Kuan

Python product with Catalog

I try to make a simple searchable python product. I could not find the proper document for it so I copy from photo product and mixed with the boring product as below. I really do not understand what I am doing, but it works. However, I do not know how to make it catalog itself automatically as catalogaware says. We went the route of using the ODBC connections. I was only testing the ability to get to some databases for Zope testing purposes. The overall project that this was to be for was put on hold by the client so I can not speak to what kind of volume could have been piped through the connection. I ran into an interesting issue getting the connection through the ODBC up and running. I loaded the UDB5 client and cataloged the databases that I wanted to hit on the local client. I then installed the ODBC components. I then defined a connection through Zope and created a method to grab some data. I spent the better part of the day trying to get Zope to talk to the database. Absolutely no luck. ... and I tried everything in the book including the reboots that NT needs (sort of like giving treats to your dog. ... it gives NT a chance at a change of pace ... then it will work happily for you until it feels it is time for another break) I left late that evening a very frustrated camper. I came back the next day not looking forward to having to figure out the problem. To my surprise, the connection was up and running like a champ. To this day I have no bloody clue as to what happened. Ever since the connection has been as stable as can be on NT. I hope this helps.
