Change the error screen for Unauthorized Error?

Is there any way to change the screen presented when a user types in the wrong name/password when trying to access a restricted Zope resource? From what I can tell, the page displayed is from somewhat deep in BaseRequest.py... Is there any way to override this? It would be nice to display a page with directions on who to contact, etc, etc instead of the somewhat generic Zope error message. Please cc me on replies, thanks!! Hunter

Zope w/ FastCGI / mod_rewrite

Hi all, I'm setting up Zope to use FastCGI w/ Apache, I followed the How-to by kedai on zope.org and got most of the way, however I still have a few questions: 1. I want to serve my site with the root URL as FastCGI but be able to have absolute URLs sans hostname (i.e. <a href="/images/foo.gif">) resolve properly... if I just use a simple rewrite rule like: ... RewriteRule ^/(.*) /fcgi/$1 [PT] then the top page works, but all the links off this page are based off of <base href>, which gets set to something like http://myhost/fcgi. Base href seems to be inferred by doing some stuff with the SERVER_URL and SCRIPT_NAME environment variables; SCRIPT_NAME gets passed from pcgi set to my FastCGI script name, /fcgi. Is there a good way within the CGI protocol that I can tell Zope that it should ignore SCRIPT_NAME when deciding the base href of my site, since I'm rewriting the URL so that stuff without the /fcgi will get there? For now, I just added a hack to HTTPRequest.py, but as you can imagine, it's ugly :-(. What's the RWTDT right way to do this? 2. I also would like to preserve ScriptAlias and Alias directories on the Apache side more nicely - right now it seems like if I line up some additional rewrite rules for /cgi-bin/, etc. before the fcgi rewrite rule, like: RewriteRule ^/cgi-bin/(.*) /cgi-bin/$1 [L,PT] RewriteRule ^/(.*) /fcgi/$1 [PT] the annoying thing is that sometimes URLs end up passing through the Rewrite engine twice as well (explanation: a Pass-Through is necessary in order to get mod_alias to handle /cgi-bin as a ScriptAlias-ed directory; however, if there's any URL left at that point, i.e. /cgi-bin/myscript/foo/, then /foo/ travels through the Rewrite engine again, according to the logs). This is more of an Apache question than a Zope question - however I think this is also of interest to others who might want to integrate Zope into their existing setup, so if anyone has any suggestions... :-) ! mailhost question

I've been trying to use the how-to on "How to create a mail form" to send e-mails from our Zope-based site running on Linux. All goes as advertised except that I get an SMTP error 553: Domain Name Required back when I try it if I use localhost as the smtp host name. I sent mail to myself from the admin account on the hosting server and used the domain name in the from address as the Local Host setting in the MailHost object. I tried changing the SMTP host setting to our corporate server (after getting our admin to give permission to the zope server IP addr.) and the error message changes to SMTP eror 551: none Can anyone point me in the right direction here?

Behavior of <dtml-let>

I discovered an interesting attribute of <dtml-let> after it was biting me on the nose for awhile. I've got a property, "db_Columns", of type "lines." In my code, I do the following: <dtml-let columns="db_Columns"> ... <dtml-call "columns.append('blahblahblah')"> ... </dtml-let> The append works wonderfully for my "local" variable columns, but as it turns out, it also appends 'blahblahblah' to "db_Columns". I totally understand why this happens, and it certainly makes sense for <dtml-let> to function this way; I just thought that some mention of this feature in the DTML Reference guide (or some such document) could save someone else the trouble of tracking down why a screen is rendering very oddly. Gents, Well, you could always try W3 under Emacs (just kidding, not sure how it does under X, but on my NT machine it doesn't work very well as a management interface). The problem isn't so much one of Emacs not working with cookies, it is of FTP (which is what efs is using) not working with cookies. The DC folks had some comments on this a ways back (check the list archives) and the conclusion was that the FTP protocol just didn't have the support built in for Zope's more sophisticated management capabilities. I wonder how much work it would be to get WebDAV support into XEmacs? I'm not too familiar with WebDAV, but does this provide a better map to Zope's management functionality? dupe id's

Hi, If you modify 'def _checkId(self, id, allow_dup=0)' in '/lib/python/OFS/ObjectManager.py' to 'def _checkId(self, id, allow_dup=1)' and you upload (via load_site.py) an object with an existing id-name, something weird happens when you look at the content of its container in the management console: there seem to be 2 objects in it with the same id. they seem to be just pointers to the same object, because if you delete 1, they're both gone. dtml-tree url-parameter question

... hmm ... I just too dumm for these documentation ... I could not find an example of how to use the url-attribute in the dtml-tree-tag. I have a page which is called like this: http://hostname/mypage?myVal=10 Within that page I have a dtml-tree. When I try to expand the expansion-urls do not habe the "?myVal=10" parameter anymore. Hi, Can anyone interpret this for me? Do these references to medusa mean someone is trying to access some chat program in Zope? Locate an object in zope tree

Hi Zoppers, My zope tree is : / folder1 object11 folder2 folder3 object31 How to use objet11 in object31, which path is it? I tried <dtml-with "folder1.object11"> but zope can't find this object11 !! Certainly an acquisition problem, but in my case I can't assume the position of folder1, base or url objects are ineffective when you are deep in the tree. Bye, FR.
