The problem is that nothing happens! 'myparent' property keeps empty. I also don't get an error value... What do you mean by keeps empty. Is that in the sense of: <dtml-var myparent> does not yield a (the right) value? or in the sense of: I can't see the value of the property in the property screen of the instance. That last thing may happen, and still the property may be set. Try using the dtml-var in the view method of you ZClass. If you want the property to show if you consult the property tab, you may have to remap the manage_Properties (or whatever it's) called view in the ZClass definition. Rik

I ran into this with the DB setup I was using. My tables were always created fine. If you look at the code you will find that you will get a synyax error on just about anything that is not a SELECT statement. The string is passed fine however. THis is what happened to me. You milage may vary ....

Returning lists of tuples

I've got situation where I want a dtml-method to return a list of tuple objects. I then want to iterate over the tuples using a dtml-in construct, displaying the various parts of the tuple. For example, suppose I want to return a list of URL tags and names like this: <dtml-return "[('Go Here', 'foo.bar.com') , ('Go Somewhere Else', 'baz.foo.com')]"> I would like to do something like this with this result: <dtml-in urltags> <a href="< url part from tuple >">< display part of tuple ></a> </dtml-in> Is there a way to do this and if so, what is the magical syntax to make this happen? I'm also interested in knowing how I might use a collection of mapping objects in a similar manner. Thanks! James W. (unix) permission problems with zope

Hi, I am trying to set up zope on a RedHat box, so that anyone in the 'zopemaster' unix group can install files (like zexp, external methods, products). Zope is run by the 'www' user, which is in the 'zopemaster' group. The UID has been set as 'www' in the z2.py file. Now, when I install a file as another user in the import directory, I set the group of the file to zopemaster, and set the permissions to g+r, zope cannot read them, and complains about a permissions problem. When the file is o+r, it works. For testing purposes, I exported a file from zope, and the group of the file was 'users'. I tried to modify the z2.py file by adding the line os.setgid(115) to the z2.py file (where 115 is the gid of 'zopemaster'), but it didn't help. Any ideas? Thanks, Stefan.

Hi Zopist, does anybody know how to put a list of dictionaries into <dtml-in> tag? I would like to call 'manage_addProperty(id, value, type)' and the variables id, value and type to store in a list of dictionaries for different properties. Authentication Problem

I'm having difficulty setting up users and roles. Obviously I'm missing something really obvious, but I can't figure out what. FWIW, this is v. 2.1.4 running on RedHat Linux 6. The Problem: I have a folder called Sites, at the top level of the Zope tree. Inside Sites/acl_users I've defined user "cedric". cedric has one role, anonymoususer, which has view privileges. When I try access http://mysever:8080/sites/ as "cedric," I get: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Unauthorized You are not authorized to access this resource. Username and password are not correct. {traceback} {Troubleshooting suggestions} Any help is most appreciated. Thanks,

hi to all i'm running zope 2.1.2 on win95 binary distribution for development. A) ouput question: i have to use : <dtml-var ab fmt=dd>.<dtml-var ab fmt=mm>.<dtml-var ab fmt=year> to show: 28.2.2000 <dtml-var ab fmt=%d.%m.%Y> shows: 27.2.2000 Is there a better way to get the right date the European way? B) input question: i have a form asking for a date. see these examples 28.2.99 -> 1999/02/28 2/28/99 -> 1999/02/28 28.2.00 -> Invalid Date-Time String 2/28/00 -> 2000/02/28 28.2. -> Invalid Date-Time String can i prevent the errors? thanks gidon

Grawl! the method works when the ZClass instance is moved (thus the myparent property is filled correctly), but it isn't filled when a ZClass instance is created! Why?? Tom.
