object ids with spaces in ZCatalog

I am using a number of ZCatalogs in virtual hosts, and using the modification outlined by Evan Simpson (http://www.zope.org/Members/4am/SiteAccess/patch) which appears to be working fine. Problems have appeared with objects in the ZCatalog with spaces in them however. When uncataloging, the id is urllib.quoted, but the stored object paths are not, so they don't match. I made a quick mod to catalog_object in ZCatalog.py so that it catalogs a urllib.quoted version of the path: self._v_total = (self._v_total + self._catalog.catalogObject(obj, urllib.quote(uid), self.threshold)) It appears to work, but what is the best way of doing this? No doubt about it. A number of users have reported serious stability problems - me included. Apache/FCGI or direct to medusa seems to make no difference. One way of stopping the problem is to run with -t 1 but frankly, it's not a viable option for many situations - single threading zope is painful under any kind of load, but at least it doesn't appear to core dump regularly. I've experienced it on a 2.1.6 binary install on a linux (stock RH6.1) box but I understand it's been reported on a solaris x86 box also. I have a lightly loaded sunos 5.6 binary install which seems stable. howto_database

Hi everybody, my question is, how to put a relational database in the back of zope. I want to make queries from a web-page and the results be shown on a page - I cannot find any hint on the zope-pages which interface is to be used for this purpose ... running zope-medusa offline

Is there a way to run zope-medusa in an offline mode? e.g. I have a w95 laptop and z2.py starts fine if I am either connected to my ISP or LAN, but fails if I am offline--I would like to just access files via 'localhost' and not have to be connected. Thanks in advance Dave

DTML parsing Python- tuples and lists

Hello: I wondering how/if DTML can parse Python sequence types: the list and tuple. The scenario: an external method returns a tuple full of stuff(lists and dictionaries), and I want to tear it down and format it using DTML fors and DTML ifs, but I don't see anyone talking about doing this. Any pointers would be appreciated. -andy diller

is there a more user friendly products repository ?

Hi, could someone tell me if a central repository exists with all Zope products in .tar.gz format easily available ? The current /Products folder is near useless if you want to download a lot of products quickly: you have to click and click and click on several links before accessing to the .tar.gz It's hard to automate the downloading of the available products, but if all of them (or direct links to the .tar.gz) were in a single folder it would be much easier. Does something like that already exist or not ? Wouldn't it be a good idea ? thanks.
