XMLWidgets question

I am trying to use XMLWidgets to render some simple structured documentation, and am running into problems extending it. The problem I have is with trying to add new elements that can be included in elements. For example, I have created a new element <table>, which works OK if inserted into a section, but produces no output (and no errors) if placed into a paragraph. The isNodeSupported() method was changed to: <dtml-return "getParentNode().getNodeName() == 'section'" || "getParentNode ().getNodeName() == 'p'"> so that it will be legal in both contexts. I guess the problem is that the render() method for is: <dtml-var text_content> which of course will not produce anything for contained elements. However changing it to: <dtml-var render_helper> will not work because it will never get to the point where it will extract the paragraph content to display (though it will now display contained elements). Am I going about this the wrong way, or am I just missing something obvious? Richard

I am assuming that was the problem, because when I changed the DB fields to the same size it worked. Your example will come in handy thank you... Just do this within the GeneralUserFolder.py line 432 is: response=request['RESPONSE'] response.unauthorized = guf_unauthorized simply add: response.setStatus('OK') this does the trick. multiple domains + multiple hosts

Yellow, As anyone implemented 1 Zope in a server with only 1 IP address serving multiple domains + multiple hosts within each domain, with diferent sites? I want to do this without apache. Hi Helmut. Sorry. I have just noticed your mail. Well, yes, I have found a solution (although it is more like a workaround). The problem was that the following python statement self.erzeuger = AUTHENTICATED_USER within the constructor of my python-base class SOMEHOW shot the thing and I was unable to get a hand on it anymore (even trying to get these things out manually (but that was another problem ;) So, I changed the line to: self.erzeuger = AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName() since all I needed was the name! That solved it. I got a similiar thing as I once tried to assign an empty list to an object-member in a xxx_add method by <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('me', [])"> the result was exactly the same: an object got created and changed its type to the type of the container class after a few (non-deterministic) accesses. Did this with zope 2.1.4/2.1.5/2.1.6 on linux/i386 and win32. Reproducable. hmmm... bogus. Perhaps a bug in the persistence mechamism?? I do not know. But I do avoid those assignments (although they are not forbidden, are they?) Interesting to notice: you can use those assignments within methods when you do not store anything. Hi ZOPE newbie alert: I am trying to get ZOPE to publish dates in UK format. I am fine with getting todays date formatted as required by calling a dtml-var, but the problem is with putting up 'future-static' dates such as the example in the Content Managers Guide, where you want to do something like "This site will go live on..." using 'expected_date' which is a property with type date. This automatically formats 20 June 2000 to 2000/06/20 and I can't figure out how to change it. Any ideas welcome! Catalog and CatalogAware questions

Hi My post went by last month without any suggestions, and I am still looking for some assistance. So, I am rewording my questions. I am trying to grok the Catalog and CatalogAware classes. I don't quite understand how to map variables into it. Say for instance that I have two classes within my base class that contain different variables: * people class contains the variables name, birthday, and djname * event class contains the variables eventname, startdate, and dj_list Now, I want to be able to search for an "eventname", which would not need to look in the people class at all. I also want to be able to search for a dj, which would look in both classes for the variables "djname" and "dj_list", and bring back all the matches. How is it that these definitions are created? I have tried setting up my base class to inherit Catalog, which gave me no errors, but I don't think I initialized it correctly. I tried inheriting CatalogAware, which gave me strange results, but I could see it when I would add a search interface from the management screen. Do I need to create a seperate "catalog" for each class containing the variables for itself? Then the base class is somehow mapped to those classes' Catalogs? My product is mostly python, so dtml examples will not help. Thanks for any pointers! -e-
