Zope on ISP

I have Zope set up running under NT alongside IIS and AOLserver3. Works fine as I have complete control and admin rights. I would like to set up Zope on my ISP. I have access to the cgi-bin directory, can run python (and TCL). So how do you setup Zope? The ISP is using Redhat Linux 6.1 and an Apache web server. Tried using the source and compiling - no joy error about compiling rights. Tried using a precompiled version for Linux. The install seemed to work. Got a password setup and tried to run Z2.py without Zserver. Although no errors were returned nothing seemed to happen. I read the How-to on ISP/ZOPE and it assumes you can compile. Also read another how-to that refers to the ability to run under a user account. It then refers to the install.txt which didn't make much sense in the circumstance I was trying to operate. btw knowledge of Linux - not a lot. So how do you do it? Regards, Dave.

hi, when I'm using this form and change methode to update a file, there is no file inserted, when I click object-view, I see the id of the object on the screen and not the file I want to upload! mex the form: <form action="AlpineProduct_change"> <input type="hidden" name="id" value="<dtml-var id>"> File: <input type=file name="file"> <input type=submit value="Change"> the change methode!!! __init__.py problem

Hi, As many of you will know, I'm working on modernising the Squishdot product. As part of doing this, I thought I'd bring __init__.py into line with the stuff on the Interfaces Wiki (sorry for missing this earlier, Michel ;-) and in the Boring product. Okay, starting with Squishdot 0.3.4, I changed http://www.bay-c.co.uk/init.py.old to http://www.bay-c.co.uk/init.py.new The restart went fine, but now when I try to 'Add a Squishdot Site' I get the following. A couple of thoughts... make sure you're using the oneline form of encoding, or have patched gadfly to allow newlines in strings. if you can reproduce it, try putting a 'print' inside lib/python/Shared/DC/ZRDB/DA.py to dump out all SQL executed... look for a line that's something like: if src__: return query and put a line before it like print "SQL DEBUG:", query this will send all SQL executed by Zope to stdout. Obviously this is not something you should do on a busy server unless you're really sure of yourself (or desperate to track down what's going on...) Anthony

We were planning on starting a web based project, and I was entrusted the task of performing an evaluation/comparision of the various options available , open source as well as commercial . The option we were considering were PERL , PHP , Cold Fusion , Servlets , Zope . Question: How do I transpose the contents of a 2-D array? Purpose: I have a ZSQL-Method which returns the rows (Model 1, Model 2 etc) as in Diagram 1 below (best viewed in a fixed-width font). I want to present this information in an HTML table as in Diagram 2 below. xmlrpc and zclass

hi all i've read Amos xml-rpc articles at xml.com and has even succeeded in viewing and editing dtml methods and documents. now, i need to do stuff with zclass. i have a nested zclass (pub zclass, article zclass, etc). i can access the parent zclass ok. can anybody point me to adding a zclass instance and its property sheet. i think i need to do as the add_zclassForm constructor, ie createInObjectManager, do stuff in propertysheets.myzclass_property.manage_editProperties(REQUEST) but as of now, i'm still in the dark. how can i emulate the zclass constructor in xml-rpc? desperately seekin Zope Zen. thanks -- ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.kedai.com.my/kk Am I Evil?

XML Document: why not create with FTP, WebDAV or PUT?

The release doc for XML Document 1.0a6 states that "You cannot create new XML Document objects with FTP, WebDAV or PUT." Before I delve into this, I'd like to ask: Are there a reason this should be intrinsically impossible or difficult, or is it just on the TODO list? kind regards, Peter Ring

Downloading parts of image on demand

Hello everyone, I have a big issue here, but don't know how to approach it (not necessarily a Zope issue): I want to display a thumbnail of an image. When the user selects a certain part of the image (using a Java applet?), it goes to the server and requests a larger copy of this piece. Basically, if I have a large image, I want to display it as thumbnail and zoom in and out of parts of the image, but the image should not be completely downloaded. It should only serve the desired part of the image. Did someone write this type of server piece in PIL before? Local FS manage_addFolder woes

Hi, I'm trying to create a folder within a localFS object if one doesn't exist already. I'm trying: <dtml-if "not localFSobject.fileIds(folderNameVar)"> <dtml-call "localFSobject.manage_addFolder(folderNameVar)"> <dtml-else> Folder exists... </dtml-if> The problem is that this creates the folder in the folder containing the localFS object, not in the localFS object. Do I want a dtml-with? If so, which one? Does LocalFS support manage_addFolder or is the above happening because it doesn't and so aquisition is causing manage_addFolder to be executed on the folder object containing the localFS object? If aquisition is hapening, what should I use instead of manage_addFolder? Am I totally up the wrong tree? Any help is good help... Chris
