I have just installed the recent product betas of ZopeLDAP and UserLDAP. Everything seems to be working except for one problem. DTML statements do not seem to be recognized by the LDAP queries. The "ldapUserQuery" under the properties of the "acl_users" folder created by the addition of a "User LDAP" object is the key offender. In this query there is this statement: uid= The parameter "name" is passed to the query. If run here are the results: --------------------- no results Filter used: uid= ---------------------- If I hard code the query to use a specific uid then everything words fine. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any ideas on what may be the problem? Are there any specific permissions that need to be set? Thanks for the help, Eric Shuman ~Eric

Workaround: Zope 2.1.6: "Invalid Header" Error

Me and lots of collegues have been plagued by occasional "Invalid Header" Zope errors. The analysis revealed: Zope tries to be CGI compliant: A CGI reponse can be preceeded by a sequence of HTTP headers separated by a blank line from the response body. Zope 2.1.6 (and before) uses a regular expression to determine whether or not such a header is present and a different regular expression to analyse each successive header. The first regular expression is buggy: leading whitespace can convince it that there is a header although it is not. The second regular expression then fails to parse this "header" and the "Invalid Header" exception is raised. The code has been greatly improved in Zope 2.2. For Zope 2.1.x, there is an easy workaround for the problem. Start the DTML with an empty line. This lets the first regular expression recognize an empty HTTP header, the second regular expression is not called. Dieter

on ZCatalog

since ZCatalog refuses to work with SiteRoot (SiteAccess), i have thought of implementing a temporary solution of making a dtml method which: - deletes the SiteRoot object - traverses the site for ZWiki pages to add to the ZCatalog - adds the SiteRoot object back again i am lost as to the dtml for getting ZCatalog to find and update all the ZWiki pages... :/ also, can someone advise me on how often i should call this method... so as to not cause too much strain on the machine many thanks in advance -- best regards, tav http://plexnews.com

Editing dtml using ftp, and errors.

Hi If I try to save a dtml method in emacs which has errors, I get: 426 Error creating file. Is there any way of seeing more information about the error, like what the web interface provides? -- Rob Murray

Hi Michel, I solved this, but I am not completely sure why. It has something to do with the new 2.2.0 feature of Trojan horses preventing I think (which I learned after hours of searching around). The final problem was the owner-settings. Lets assume you have the following structure root root_acl_users "rootmanager" subfolder "newrole" subfolder_acl_users "subfoldermanager" subsubfolder When you define a user "rootmanager" under root_acl_users and you define a new role "newrole" under subfolder, than you can not give the rootmanager the "newrole" because it is not defined on that level, you can not see it. That was my problem. The subsubfolder was owned by rootmanager. And the right to access the subsubfolder and it's objects was limited to "newrole" and "manager"-role. Everything looks fine, but it does not work. You have to define a new "subfoldermanager" in your subfolder_acl_users and give him the "manager" role. Than you have to set the Ownership of all your objects to "subfoldermanager". May be I missed something, but now everything works. I hope you know what I mean, otherwise let me know. Jens

This appears to be a classic aquisition gotcha. You can use the "only" option of the dtml-with tag to eliminate namespace conflicts. However, in this case I might suggest passing the parameters directly to objemedswf instead of using REQUEST. like so: <dtml-var "Flash4.objembedswf(swf='login.swf', width='100%', height='100%')"> This leaves no ambiguity about what is being called, where it is located and what is being passed to it. Implementing a login form instead of BASIC authentication

Hello, I am currently looking into implementing a login form to replace the standard BASIC authentication. I've looked into AccessControl/User.py and there seems to be a validate function that would enable me to do it. The only problem is that I am unable to figure out how to use it. The basic idea is to have a forms that requires the username and the password. This will then enable users to log into the system. Thank you for your help.
