Zopatistas, Zope.org has suffered a disk failure that evidently our raid array did not correctly recover from. We should be back up shortly in "degraded" mode. I am going to be working on changing things around so that the zeo clients to continue operating in read-only mode even if the storage/ staging server goes down. Once replicated storage comes about, this single point of failure will go away. Thanks for your understanding, -- ethan mindlace fremen zopatista community liason

PopMail Client

Hi David, I'm looking at your Pop3 Client tool for Zope and have hit a snag. Is there any documentation about correct usage, or example (Zope) code? I'm using Zope 2.2.1 on Redhat Linux, with PopMailBase .0.0.3, and PopMail .0.0.2 I have looked over POP.py, and have a glimmer of what to do to call these methods and functions. I have added a Pop Client Folder, and a client account object, but when I try to use the "View" tab in the Zope TTW GUI, I get the tracebacks, below. The 'error_proto' is a reference to the first class listed in poplib.py, which simply 'pass(es)' when an Exception is used as a parameter. One thing I noticed is that poplib seems to treat error_proto as a function sometimes, which strikes me as odd. Some Pythonic stuff boggles my mind. Now you know as much (hopefully much more!) than I do. Thanks for any help! Hello, I'm trying to build a rating site for medical software which will be identical in functionality to the http://www.icewalker.com and/or http://www.zope-treasures.com site except for the purple colors. I'm currently running squishdot, which I could use pretty easily if you could add extra fields associated with a squish article, but so far I haven't had success in that direction :-( I've asked the zope-treasures people for their code, but they are running Sybase behind theirs and I'm using Zope only. Does anyone know of something that I might use for this? Or if it is possible to add fields to a squish article? I know PTK will have this, but I'm facing competition so I need to get something working soon. -- IV

CoreSessionTracking and noundo db

Zope on OpenBSD 2.8 problem solved

Hi, For those of you wishing to run Zope on OpenBSD 2.8, here is a solution. The reason it doesn't work in the first place is a thread bug in the OpenBSD 2.8 release version. The solution is to use the libc_r from OpenBSD 2.7 for the Zope instance. Thanks to Jason Ish for the howto, I thought I would rewrite it to be more generic and post it to the lists. So, here we go: Python on OpenBSD 2.8 uses /usr/lib/libc_r.so.3.1. libc_r.so.3.1 is from 2.8, libc_r.so.3.0 is from 2.7 and will work. So what we do is to copy the old libc file (if you don't have it, mail me and I'll send it to you) into a directory in the Zope install dir, and add that to the path. Then we rename the old file so the system thinks it is the curent version. In this example, I assume your Zope install is in /usr/local/zope. First, we copy the old library into our Zope dir, and rename it: cp /usr/lib/libc_r.so.3.0 /usr/local/zope/libc_r.so.3.1 Then you should add something like this to the top of your "start" script: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/zope Start Zope, and you will find that it works fine now. Zope also works fine in the CURRENT tree of OpenBSD, so presumably it will work out-of-the-box on OpenBSD 2.9. This is the safest way of getting it to work at the moment. Strange behaviour after server change

Our old web server contained Zope 2.2.4 and 8 different Domains. I installed Zope 2.2.5 on the new server. Then I made an export of the whole directory, containing the subdirectories of the virtual domains. On the new server (2.2.5) I made an import of this zexp. The tree now exists in the 2.2.5-Version. There were some objects, which showed a ? because some Products were not installed on the new server. I could delete those objects without problem. The ISP made the necessary changes on the DNS (he had to change only the last part of the IP adress, our new server is in the same network). When I ping to the domain names, everything is okay, the new IP number is showing up. When I call some of the domain names, the Zope-websites only show up, if Zope on the OLD server is running. I don't understand what went wrong. Some of the domains work ok, some not. Another domain which I transferred using FTP works ok too. I already made a cache flush with no results. I even restarted both servers. how to get access to Python's md5 module

I want to use MD5 encoding to encrypt passwords stored for use with LoginManager. The standard 'md5' Python module/library is just what I need, but I can't seem to import it from a Python Method or Script. orphan handling/sequence-size bug?

hi there, we take the sequence-size as seq_size for a dtml-in statement from a formular with 'get' (as shown in DTML.html under batch processing) (<dtml-in rep.sql size=seq_size start=query_start>) if the seq_size is 2 and larger there is no trouble, if it is 1 (&seq_size=1&query_start=2) 'next-sequence' does not exist in the second batch. therfore it doesn't show a next-batch-link in the second batch. seems to be a problem with the orphan handling thanks olaf -- soli-con Engineering Zanger Dipl.-Ing.
