Hello everyone, In First Place, I hope that someone answer my questions this time. Im very disappointed with this list, because people spend time discussing things like if zope is good or not good and do not answer simple questions of people that is trying to learn how to use zope in a simple way. I need help on something that seems pretty strange to me: I'm developing a product in python, and everything its working fine, except that when i try to access any object of type File, i get an Unauthorized Error. Any other object that i try to access works fine. I tried to move the file object out of my Custom object, and then i can access it without any problem. HELP! Getting Unauthorized on AccessRule? Bug in Python?

This is a little more complicated: I have 2 machines running zope here and I have imported the same site into the 2 machines, so, they have exactly the same setup. The products installed are also the same. On this site I have imported, i have an access rule. But, for some strange reason, i can edit the accessrule on one, but on the other, when i try to do it, i get an Unauthorized Error. The machine which gives me the error is the iBook, but, for what i know, the only difference between one and the other is the Python Version (2.1.1 vs 2.1). Here is the setup: 1. How to control the number of contained items

Zope and PDF

Is there a preferable way to do the following: A customer wants no more to produce print AND web documents. He decided to only produce web documents of good quality and let the customers print it out if desired. His idea is, to offer a HTML version for browsing and a PDF version for printing. I saw that there are products, which produce HTML code out of PDF files. Are these products stable and usable? How can I pack the database from the command prompt

Hi, I have had this problem before, when I try to pack the database I get an I/O Error, which I found to be as a result of a cap put by my isp on the amount of resources I can use. Which is a problem;^( I have tried using the unlimit command, but to no avail, is there a way to pack the database from the command prompt? MarketPlace for Zope Software Components

If I were a hard core software developer, I would prefer open source software, I can download it for free, get it to work, make any changes I need, and get support on a mailing list if I have a serious problem. In fact I would object to not having modifiable source code. But there is also another way to look at this problem. I believe that there is another target market that might prefer commercially supported components. Which could also include source. I am thinking of an end user market. More like an excel user than an object-oriented developer. These people would like to have an environment where they can drag and drop different components, and click on a few values to configure them. These end users want a clear catalogue of components, with a more detailed description of what each component does. They would like the components preinstalled on a server, they just select which ones they want to use. And they would need to pay for these components in order to support the marketting of these components, marketting investment which zope could benefit from. I have seen lots of object-oriented environments, and I believe that zope is the first technology that really enables a market in software components. I think that there is a real opportunity here. Are there any commercially sold software components for zope? Is anyone intersted in buying commercially supported zope components? Actually I am looking for a zope component to run the python and zope webring. Which is what started my thinking on these matters.
