OK, second try: I want users to add their own properties to a ZClass. How exactly do I do that? In a property sheet? How do I get the "Add" button visible in ZClass instance property sheet? Some digging through Python posts solved my problem--apparently the latest re version (sre, actually) has Unicode support--but it has stack limitations that don't allow you to send large chunks of text through it. The solution, if my question raised your own questions, is to import pre as re in your external method.

Welcome! Zope is different from other web servers, in that you are not dealing with files, using a '/' to move between directories, but rather objects (in the programming sense), so you have to use a '.' separator. However, while programming in zope uses objects, the HTTP side that your browser uses just sees a standard web server, hence the <img> tag that works with '/'. <dtml-var Images.ZAcmeLogo> The dtml-var manipulates the object. ZCatalog with OR expression

Hi! I'm trying to get an OR expression from a catalog: For example: <dtml-in "Catalog(meta_type='Image', title='Z*')"> So, this way I'm having objects with meta_type='Image' AND title starting with Z. Now, I need an OR expression: I need cataloged objects with meta_type='Image' OR with title='Z*' This can be done adding "two Catalogs: <dtml-in "Catalog(meta_type='Image')+Catalog(title='Z*')"> But... this way I get some objects two times: the ones filling both expressions. How could this be done better? Thanks if somebody can help... Gari PS: The real case is more complicated, I'm searching dates between ranges... but I think that the problem is the basic solution... Zope DB or Postgres or what for 3.500 files

Hi, I am discussing with a friend about solutions for his site. I am using Zope but cannot answer this two questions seriously. 1. Imaging more than 3.500 HTML-Pages with a text amount of two or three DIN A4 Pages per HTML-Page. Would you recommend to put them into a Postgres-DB or is it no problem for the Zope DB do serve and index this amount of files and text? Traffic is about 2GB per month. 2. I've been using the Loadsite-Script sometimes but I am not satisfied with the import of metadata. Is it possible to import metadata like "title", "description", "keywords", "author" and so one with a modified loadsite-script so that I can import his 3.500 files with normal HTML-Metadatatags into a folder and all is done? conditionals inside dtml-let expressions

Is there a straightforward way to bind one of two values to a let variable depending on the value of another variable? In C/C++/Java I would use the ?: operator, but Python doesn't have that. Or should I just bind the variable to None then set it later with something like <dtml-let var=None> <dtml-if "testvar==targetval"> <dtml-var expr="_.set(var, 'yes')> <dtml-else> <dtml-var expr="_.set(var, 'no')> </dtml-if> </dtml-let>

Howdy! We've been using a rather lengthy external method to parse out pieces of some files on our site. It's been working well, but we just upgraded from Zope 2.3 to 2.4.1, and now I'm getting a "maximum recursion error" when the script runs. I've narrowed it down to a couple of regular expressions--I take them out, and the thing works fine. I suspect there's an error with my logic in the building of these re compiles, but I'm not sure. (And they've never failed before. Anyone see the error of my ways? (Attached is the function that's failing. It's being fed news story-length chunks of text with html code inside. Still fighting ftp access to ZWiki pages

Hi again! I can't get a user who does not have the "Manager" role to be able to edit or even load ZWiki pages via ftp. I install a fresh Zope 2.4.1 with ZWiki 0.9.5. I create a ZWikiWeb. I can use the admin account to access ZWiki pages via ftp. I create a new user test (on the top level). I create a role test (on the top level). I assign the test role all permissions (on the top level). I am not able to access any of the ZWiki pages in the folder via ftp using the user test. I am able, though, to access all the DTML methods in the folder. This is (in a nutshell) the same issue I described in another post yesterday. Is it a bug? Is anybody accessing ZWiki pages without the Manager role via ftp? How do you do it? Should I post this somewhere else? Oliver -- Oliver Sturm / <sturm(a)oliver-sturm.de>
