Unfortunately it isn't quite clear to me what kind of site might be a right example to show off zope's capabilites in the area you asked for. But I know one zope site (not from my company) which is heavily database driven and might go in the right direction. It is in german, but that doesn't matter. They "broker" agricultural engines and other technical stuff for farmers, and are the greatest of their kind in germany: http://www.tec24.com/ Just klick on some links (e.g. "Schlepper") until you reach a form, then just submit to see some results. They have around 15000 items in their database, and the site runs well. Perhaps your programmer should post here at the list? ;-) cheers, oliver

ZCatalog UnpickleableError

Under a 2.4.1 install I recieve the following error while trying to add a ZCatalog. accessing overridden methods

I'm having a little difficulty with Zope inheritance. What I'd like to do is have a child folder (derived class) override a method foo() of it's parent (base class). In the child class, I want foo() to do it's thing and then call the overridden foo() method of it's parent. I have tried a child.foo() like this: child foo <dtml-with "PARENTS[1]"> <dtml-var foo> </dtml-with> but that introduced undesirable behavior by placing the PARENTS[1] namespace above the current (PARENTS[0]) namespace, so I tried: child foo <dtml-var "PARENTS[1].foo(_.None,_)"> but that didn't really work, either. The reason this fails is because "PARENTS[1]" is always relative to the object that was accessed in the current request. This leads to infinite recursion when I create a further-nested subfolder (BaseClass.Child.GrandChild.foo) Is there another way? ------------ Brian Withun Web Developer Hilgraeve, Inc. If this helps, ***within a single index***, dtml-in does "lazy concatenation" which works ok. Example query: http://classifieds.uniontrib.com/8000/results?displaymode=browse&getSection= 8572&sort_on=summaryfield&adDate:date=10-13-2001&adDate:date=10-14-2001 In this query, the adDate index is used twice, and 2 catalog queries are performed by the dtml-in iteration machinery, and concatenated together, and sorted together by dtml-in... I think that Casey's CatalogQuery product might give you OR across certain fields, but I'm not sure if there are any "perfect" solutions. aq_explicit only and DTML Document

Let me try this again. There has got to be an explanation and/or workaround for this. I am beating my head up against the wall. Given a DTML Method that spits out a folder index that is acquired by subfolders with the following code: <dtml-in expr="objectValues('DTML Document')"> <dtml-var id>: <dtml-var meta_type> (<dtml-var summary missing="">) </dtml-in> Well, this mostly works but acquires summary from the containing folder or above if it is not set on the document. So I try <dtml-in expr="objectValues('DTML Document')"> <dtml-var id>: <dtml-with aq_explicit> <dtml-var meta_type> (<dtml-var summary missing="">) </dtml-with> </dtml-in> Same problem. So I now try <dtml-in expr="objectValues('DTML Document')"> <dtml-var id>: <dtml-with aq_explicit only> <dtml-var meta_type> (<dtml-var summary missing="">) </dtml-with> </dtml-in> and I get a KeyError. Apparently aq_explicit is empty inside a DTML Document? If I expand objectValues to include some of my other content types (File, Folder, etc.) 'aq_explicit only' works as expected.
