Hi I have somehow managed to set my manage interface in Zope to permanently display the index_html. I can give myself temo management access by FTPing to Zope and renaming the index_html. I suspect I have changed a security setting someplace in the root dir. Can someone suggest how to restore the management screen's contents thanks Greg

Loop throught empty list returned by python-script

Hello, a DTML-Method should iterate through a list which a python-script called "attributeDecider" is returning <dtml-in "attributeDecider(attribute)"> <dtml-var id> </dtml-in> this is the python-script: objects = context.objectValues('Folder') liste = [] for object in objects: if hasattr(object,attribute) and object.attribute: liste.append(object) return liste -->attribute is a boolean attribute and everything works fine except that "attribute" is false --> Zope is not rendering an empty page but it's trying to download the page when I click on "view" in the ZMI When I change <dtml-in "attributeDecider(attribute)"> to <dtml- var "attributeDecider"> Zope shows an empty list-symbol (like expected). Getting data from a file.

I have a text file loaded into Zope (2-4-3) as a File object. I want to "read" the file and do something with the information therein. Ideally, I would want to go through each line of data using a python script. However, the following doesn't work... import string lines = context.myFileObject.data for line in lines: # do something ...in fact, all it really does is make the Zope web interface act very slowly. The question is, how do you get at each line of text data from a File object. Anyone know how to do that (properly)? The alternative is to conver the input text data directly into XML and then have Zope import that. Is that possible? Is there a special way that you have to import it? Has anyone ever done that before (or is this worse than the above solution)? Cheers, Ron

Zope Error - Unthorised

Hi, My web site is running on Zope 2.3.1. I want to plug a spell checker into my site. I am using a simple python module that calls the ispell utility of Linux. Now I have written a python script to instantiate the main class file in the module. But when I try to access the methods in this class, the authorization window appears asking me to enter the user name and password. Authentication fails and I get a zope error that says I am unauthorised to use that function. I get this error irrespective of any function call. Loading a legacy site?

Hi, I'm attempting to save myself several hours of work by bulk loading a legacy site into my new Zope instance. However I can't seem to get the right syntax or something with the load_site utility. I've looked at the ZipFolder extension but can't figure out what to do with it for installation/configuration. Any ideas or solutions would be extremely helpful. Turning off undo for zope objects?

I remember seeing a post a while back about disabling the undo feature for zope objects to prevent the data.fs file from becoming too big. I can't find the post and can't find anything on the zope site (I dunno good keywords to search for). Anyone know the command to turn off undo? WYSIWYG browser front end?

Forgive me if I missed something. I am evaluating Zope as a possible CMS for a large University with a mix of very non-technical users through experienced technical uers. Our goal is to find something we can offer the non-technical people which _can_ eliminate all the different tools these people try to use which we are then forced to support (ftp, Dreamweaver, HTML-Kit, HomeSite, Frontpage, MS Word, Netscape Composer etc..) I do like the fact that Zope supports use of these tools. However, I was hoping there was add on or extension which offered more of a WYSIWYG interface through the browser for the non-technical people which only presented them with a page's content. For example something that ensures they use a template. It would need to be simple as point and click. I.e. Point to the "nav bar" section of a web page to allow editing of that section of the page. Zope seems to meet most of our goals. So far I'm very impressed. Does anybody have more information as to whether Zope can provide this functionality? BTW: I've seen this functionality in Egrail but the cost can't be justified ($125,000 + 15% maintenance fee)... Regards, -Ryan

where to put .lib file

Hi, I have compiled the MySql product on a win32 platform, which makes a .lib file called _mysql.lib . Where do I put this file in order for zope to see it? relative path to objects in <dtml-var>

Folks, I am trying to use acquisition to include images in my webpages. My intent is to have a central directory of Images, and several other hierararchies of Zope objects that use those images. For example, witness the following structure: Images/gifs/x.gif Images/pngs/x.png Content/A/page1_dtml (contains: <dtml-var x.gif>) Content/B/page1_dtml (contains: <dtml-var x.png>) My understanding of using pathnames in acquisition, is that one needs to insert the minimum relative path to the images from a reachable parent folder, that one can get away with, somewhere in the referring URL. Now, if I use the URL http://localhost/Content/Images/gifs/A/page1_dtml OR http://localhost/Content/Images/pngs/B/page1_dtml thing work fine. What I would really like to do is be able to specify the paths to the images inside of the dtml file itself, something like: Content/A/page1_dtml (contains: <dtml-var Images/gifs/x.gif>) Content/B/page1_dtml (contains: <dtml-var Images/pngs/x.png>) so that my URLS can be simpler, like: http://localhost/Content/A/page1_dtml http://localhost/Content/B/page1_dtml and still find the gifs.
