I have been chasing my tail on this one for the better part of two hours now. Time to ask for help. My goal: I want to load a page whose URL looks like "day1.html" where the number in the name of the page changes. I have written a Python script called pagetoget which calculates the day number correctly and assembles the URL as a string, which it returns. This seems to work. ---- what you can try: <dtml-var "_.getitem(pagetoget)"> checkout dieter's chap3 in his book available on the net (search the archive for the url) to redirect, you can do this <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(pagetoget)"> rule # 666 in the road to zen: no dtml in dtml rule #69 states : if in " ", you're in python realm. :) hth

Web Application Construction Kit problem

Hi I am working on an example from the Zope Web Application Construction Kit and I would like to know if anyone else had the same problem. Hi! This must be a very easy question, but I didn't find the answer, and I rarely have a couple of minutes of net, so email, or an exact URL is all I can hope for. So user has to authenticate himself. When done, he has access to the site. I have exUserFolder, with SMB authsource -How can I tell what username did he give? (Different users have different things in the database) -How can I give roles to the users? I didn't find any such way as we have in the default user folder. Can I use NT domain groups to map the roles to? (Maybe only some of the roles, not including manager for example) Thanks Gee

Probably Dumb Question re count(*)

I know this has to be easy but my eyes are bloody from looking for the answer at zope.org and in the Zope docs. I want to have a sentence on a page that simply tells people how many records are in a database. I created a ZSQL method that just does this: select count(*) from database1 That method is called countrecords. Now in the DTML document, I have: There are <dtml-var countrecords> records in the database. No joy. No value ever gets placed into the sentence. So I suspect that the count is being returned as a list (which is how SQL results are supposed to be returned to Zope/Python, a I get it). But here, there's no row and there's no variable name, so how would I possibly iterate over it? Is there an easier, more direct way to do this? Can't create new DTML Document w/ Mozilla 0.9.7

Hi everyone, Can anyone else confirm this potential bug. Using the new Mozilla 0.9.7, I can't add a DTML Document, DTML Method, or Python Script to my Zope site. (Those are three that I know don't work, there may be others. I can add folders.) I've tested this with 2.5.0b3 and 2.3.3 with the same results. The browser just spins without any apparent response from Zope. Netscape 4.77 seems to work just fine. This is on Linux, BTW (browser and Zope). I didn't observe this with Mozilla 0.9.6. [Bug] "bobobase_modification_time" unreliable to catalog

I just discovered that the value cataloged for "bobobase_modification_time" is often wrong: The cataloged value is not the time of the current modification but that of the previous modification. I expect that this is because "bobobase_modification_time" is updated when the transaction is commited while the values to be cataloged are determined before the commit. Do not trust the cataloged "bobobase_modification_time"! Dieter

List & Dictionary properties; General property handling thoughts

This may seem like a redundant question, but this is the third time I've come across the desire to be able to store values persistantly as lists or dictionaries. I've read all the suggestions in the archives pointing out alternatives (<dtml-return expr="{'id': 'item'}">, TinyTable, string.split('value1|value2|..', '|'), "lines" property, SQL DB, etc.) but I still don't quite get the "Zen" of why this wouldn't make sense in practice. People have mentioned that it seems redundant with existing structures like tokens or lines, but these don't seem to have all the familiar benefits of lists and dicts, like instantly accessible mutability and _methods_, plus no added overhead. I know you can manipulate data within lists & dicts in a Python script, but it's just not why I require. Following this thought, I wonder if it wouldn't be handy to be able to cut, copy, & paste properties between valid objects, and provide a way to convert existing property values to different types? Also, the ability to import/export propertysheets of OFS objects could be useful as well (like in ZClasses). The facilities to do these things already exist, so would it be agreed by others in the community to promote these changes? Is it too late to try and work this into Zope3? Hi, I'm looking for a method to do the following thing: I have a variable called path with content '/test/abc/defg'. If I want to call the object behind this path from an object in an other path which can't acquire the Folder abc or abject defg, which is the function looking for ? my object is in path /test/xyz/ and has id t and is a PythonScript def t (self, path): # path is /test/abc/defg or ['test','abc','defg'] how to get the object behind the path ?
