Can anyone recommend a way for me to pre-load some pages? I don't want to use the RAM cache because Zope is running on my workstation and the number of pages I want to load is pretty significant. I had read on the list one time about a recommendation to have a method write/update a DTML Document and then write a cron job that executes the method periodically. This would work fine for me but I'm having trouble (being a relative Zope newbie) figuring out how I might make my scripts write directly to a DTML Document. For example, let's say this is my DTML Method called SummaryReport ------------------------------------------------------------ <dtml-var standard_html_header> <p> This is a big, heavy method call: </p> <dtml call "FindandDisplayThisAndThat()"> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> ------------------------------------------------------------ In concept, what I think I want to do is periodically do this (again - in concept, I know I can't do THIS!): -------------------- SummaryReport > GeneratedPage.html -------------------- And then just reference GeneratedPage.html instead of the DTML Method that requires all the time to run. I'm figuring there's something like an ObjectManager method that can generate an HTML page and write it as a DTML Document but I just can't find anything about this. Any recommendations? Thanks! install Problem with parsedXML 1.2.1

Dear List, I try to install ParsedXML 1.2.1 on win98 with zope 2.3. While building the expat libraries with setup.py as written in the install-read-me I get 2 error-messages 'can´t find file' after 'Building static expat Library' and after 'Building pyexpat extensions ...' Does anybody know how to install it on a win computer? Thanks for your replies, Elena

Class - Object relationship

I would like to know how an object/instance "knows" what class it is built from. This may be a silly question, but I just cant see how this works. The reason I ask, is that I am interested in building a system that may well involve moving objects from one machine to another and also upgrading objects from one version of a product to another. I want to understand more about the "glue" that ties an instance of a product to the product (ZClass or Python) and the classes it is derived from. How much of a python product can I change before the instances of that product no-longer know that they are instances of that product? Is is just the meta_type? What if I create two products with the same meta_type? Where can I read up on this? TIA Tom

Logging, statistics and virtual hosts

Is there a way to log more information to Zope's "access" log, indicating which virtual host is receiving the request? We're otherwise unable to determine which of the virtual hosts is receiving a request for "/foo"... Richard

serving one site off of zope and one off of apache

I have 2 domains, currently they are set up via Apache virtual hosts. Any requests to domain:8080 go to zope. I want to set it up so that domain1.com goes to apache and domain2.com goes to domain2.com:8080. Any ideas?!? Thank you Jacob

how to authorize import of other Python modules?

I'd like to use HtmlKit in a few Python Scripts on my site. How to I tell Zope that this module is permitted? I'd rather not have to make these ExternalMethods, but I can if I must. I have admin rights to the entire server. Thanks! Chris
