Hi, I've created a Python (unsafe) method called "get_related_sql()" which returns a list of <Shared.DC.ZRDB.RDB.DatabaseResults instance at 23023f0> objects. In order to try and work out how to get the data out of these objects, I created another Python (unsafe) method called "inspect()" and tried this... <dtml-in get_related_sql()> <dtml-var "inspect(obj=_['sequence-item'] ) "> </dtml-in> inspect() contains the code... from types import * if type(obj) == InstanceType: return "instance", obj.__members__, obj.__methods__ if type(obj) == StringType: return "string" + ' ' + obj But neither the __members__ or __methods__ bits work. Simple Question about PATH environment variable

Dear All, I'm doing some content creation for a Zope site and have run into a problem with the PATH variable but need some help. Our system admin has installed zope in the /usr/share/Zope directory and created an init script on the Mandrake System it runs on to start Zope when the system boots. All very standard and works fine. I can access the site with the /manage extension to the url. I have installed DocumentLibrary1.0b3, as downloaded from www.zope.org, and downloaded wvWare from www.wvWare.com so that I can search MSWord files that I stick in the library. wvWare seems to work fine if I login to the system with ssh and execute wvWare from the bash command prompt in my home directory. Now, wvWare is located in /usr/local/bin/wvWare and I when I try and search for text that I know is in one of the files, nothing is found. I have a similar install of Zope on my home PC and it works there BUT at home I start Zope from my bash shell (./start &), thus 'which wvWare' returns /usr/local/bin/wvWare because the PATH contains /usr/local/bin. I'm thinking that for some reason the production site cannot find wvWare in the /usr/local/bin directory because the PATH environment variable has not been set properly since the Zope server is started at system startup and not from a user login. Now for the questions. Can someone give me a dtml or python snip of code to dump the PATH variable to see what it is? Assuming it's wrong, where would one modify the PATH variable so that it could find the wvWare executable? Alternatively, would it make more sense to modify the DocumentLibrary code so that the total path /usr/local/bin/wvWare is referenced from Python? Finally, lets assume nothing above works. What I'd like to do is add some debugging code to the Python code to dump out the input parameters and output results. What's the best approach given that starting Zope from the python debugger is a problem since the site is already running? Is it possible to create a trace file in /tmp that I could shoot some text to and then SSH to the machine and "moreing" the /tmp file? I was thinking of just modifying the appropriate .py file in DocumentLibrary, deleting .pyc and letting Zope figure out the rest (like re-compiling) when I referenced the code. Ideas please would be appreciated. Paul

strange behavior with manage_pasteObjects and proxy scripts

I have a proxy script which Authenticated people can call. It runs as a role that has permissions to do most things, but not completely like normal Manager roles. It basically needs to be able to Add Folders, Delete Objects, Add Properties, etc. The script is called "delete" and it's purpose is to remove a folder from its parent folder. Prior to actually deleting the object, the script calls manage_copyObjects on the folder to be deleted, and then calls manage_pasteObjects in a different context, where I want to put the folder. Folder structure is kind of like this: root people user1 events deleted_events user2 events deleted_events tools events delete Say user1 is logged in. What I want is for him to be able to be in user2's events folder, and delete events from the events folder. With the proxied script, he should be able to do this. Here is a code snippet that does the copy and the deletes where "userContext" is the context of user2's folder: # Copy the object to deleted_events what = userContext.events.manage_copyObjects(ids=[eventId]) userContext.deleted_events.manage_pasteObjects(what) # Delete the event from the user's folder userContext.events.manage_delObjects(ids=[eventId]) I think this used to work. At least I never had complaints about it not working, until today. Again, I think this used to work, so there must have been a change and it is either broken now or was broken before. manage_delObjects works if I don't do the copy/pasteObjects prior to it. Any ideas? Should I not even be using manage_copy/pasteObjects()? -Chris

I used a try: except: block at the calling end. Something I should have done in the first place. Less fuss. I don't know why I think of a solution only _after_ I have mailed this list-group. Thanks again for the info, I've been down this road before and I'm able to pass the three values from the form to the python script, but it does not seem to come over as a true list that allows one to assign variables to items in the list. For example: say the value of throw_away_script is Value1_Value2_Value3 which as far as the script is concerned the list has only 1 entry. Then my question becomes how do you parse out the values and assign them to a variable? Apache and IIS5.0

just found something very strange with IIS5.0 it doesnt check to see if ports are bound. I have a apache running on 10.100.2.7 (listening to port 80, 443) and 10 other IIS's on 10.100.2.10-10.100.2.20 also listening to port 80 If I try this they scream, 'address already in use' -- although ISM doesnt have any IIS sites bound 10.100.2.7 or unassigned. you can test this. get something besides IIS running on port 80 ;) Now. for them *not to* scream you need to bind a second ip address to each website lets say 10.100.2.10 port 80 as well as 10.100.2.7 port 81, then this site wont complain about 'address already in use'. ready? no goto 10.100.2.11 site, add a second port, 10.100.2.7 port 81. no complaints. both are running listening to teh same port? w/o complaining about 'address already in use' ;) lovely microsoft ~runyaga

Newbie - User Attributes

Hi, Trying to extend the User object (the object exposed in the acl_users folders) to associate some additional fields with a user - essentially creating a user profile. (Ex: when adding a user, have a checkbox asking "do you want us to send you our spam?") Am I looking in the wrong place for persisting user data? It looks like the User object only supports Name, Password, Domains, and Role. TIA, Josh

I'm sure there is a 'URL' object somewhere.
