Size of Data.fs: how big is too big?

Hi everyone, My Zope site has been growing fairly large lately and I'm beginning to wonder at what point I should consider moving files out of the Zope filing system and onto a static filesystem. At this point, I haven't noticed any performance issues at all. Currently, Data.fs is about 300 MB in size. The site is running on a Sun Netra X1 (400 MHz UltraSparc IIe) with 512 MB of RAM. How big a site can Zope handle?

Hi I'm a newbie with Zope, but have used it to build a fairly complex site recently. This site only had to support 91 users, all with access permissions, and quite a low traffic level. My studio is pitching to design a build a website for a very large organisation and I think Zope would be perfect. I need to know that it will be able to handle the amount of users and hits that this site will have to deal with. About 275,000 users to have accounts and about 150,000 hits a day (at the moment but set to grow quickly). Will Zope be able to deal with this? Newbie comparison Zope, MSCMS and RedDot - editing content

Hi, I'm a Zope-newbie (only heard of it 2 days ago), and I'm trying to see how it compares with something like RedDot or MSCMS, which have the ability to edit content right on the live page using placeholders. Eg: Click on the red dot, and I can edit a paragraph. So far, all I have found is how to edit object values through the management console. I think there must be something in the Zope world to do this. Getting pointed in the right direction on this would be much appreciated, Josh

HELP!! Crazy Problem!

Hi; I've built a sophisticated Web site on Zope for a client that displays *just fine* for me but screws up for them. We're all using the same OS and browser. They get 404 error messages for the inline frames and sometimes get broken links for the images! http://constructioncalc.com/ How do I trouble-shoot this? TIA, BenO

Windows install problem???

Hello All, I have just tried to install Zope 2.4.3 and Zope 2.5.0b1 onto a WindowsME box. I've run Zope on this box before for testing purposes, but for some reason, it doesn't work now. In both cases, I get this as soon as a browser tries to hit the box: 2001-12-03T17:03:42 ERROR(200) ZServer uncaptured python exception, closing chan nel <PCGIChannel at 1835d6c> (exceptions.ValueError:invalid literal for int(): G ET / HTTP [C:\Program Files\clknet\bin\lib\asyncore.py|poll|95] [C:\Program File s\clknet\bin\lib\asyncore.py|handle_read_event|383] [C:\Program Files\clknet\bin \lib\asynchat.py|handle_read|112] [C:\Program Files\clknet\ZServer\PCGIServer.py |found_terminator|76] [C:\Program Files\clknet\bin\lib\string.py|atoi|214]) I assume that it is something with this box as zope on windows has generally installed without problems, but I am a little puzzled. Installation runs fine and zope starts fine. I even ran a very old copy of zope installed on this box six months ago and it croaks with the same error. Must be a dll issue... question on ZClasses

Hi All. I'm building a project tracking/document management tool with Zope. Each of these projects is a ZClass containing a fixed hierarchy, with each level having its own properties and capability to attach files. The sub-levels are also stored as ZClasses. My question is: if I add a ZClass in the methods view of a ZClass, how can I see that in any instances of the class? It doesn't seem to work. My current workaround is to use a dtml method to create this hierarchy. The dtml method is called from the ZClass's add method. The problem with this is: if the hierarchy changes I need to write a custom script to walk the entire hierarchy and add/delete items. roles cannot be deleted in Mozilla

In ZMI when using Mozilla 0.9.6, user-defined roles are shown as empty squares at the bottom of the roles management page. User defined roles can be deleted "blindly" - if you remember the order in which they were created. This is probably caused by an extra slash that appears in option: <option value="myrole" /> ZMI works fine with MSIE 5.5 -- Milos Prudek

WebDav Bug?

Hi, Who do I report a webdav bug to?? Just in case you might want to know: PROBLEM: When connecting to Zope running on Redhat Linux 7.1 using any version of windows, the windows explorer creates a ghost folder of the parent folder in the current directory. This folder looks like a regular folder, but clicking on it causes an error. It always happens even on 2.4.3 of Zope. Is there a fix for this? Thanks, Luis.

DTML Doc and Python scripts and aq_parent

Hello all, I'm trying to wrap my head around acquisition once again. Each time I think I get it, another curve ball gets me. If anyone has any pointers I would appreciate it. I have the following structure: Root + FolderA + Folder A1 DTML_Doc w "Really Nifty Title" + CommonStuff + PythonScript inside of DTML_Doc, there are several lines of code that look something like this: <dtml-with CommonStuff> <dtml-var PythonScript> </dtml-with> In the python script I have the following print context.title # Prints 'PythonScript' print context.aq_parent.title # Prints 'CommonStuff' print context.aq_parent.aq_parent.title # Prints Folder A1 ???Huh??? I think I understand the reason you get FolderA1s title attribute because it is the container of DTML_Doc and thus is the aq_parent of CommonStuff in the namespace. But, then how does one pull attributes such as the title from the caller which in this case is a DTML_Doc? How does one get a handle on the object that called a script?
