Hi there <dtml-var "_.str(startdatum[0:4])"> will give me an answer <dtml-var "_.str(startdatum[5:2])"> will give me nothing What function do i use to extract a part of a string. Been looking around a python.org finding everything except the function I want. Cheers Fred

Seeking planning advice: Apache Zope SiteAccess2

Hello I am looking for some better understanding for configuration decisions of a new ZopeSite.. Zope is running behind Apache [v1.3 on Linux Redhat 6.2] which is hosting a number of sites. I am using SiteAccess2 and have modified the Apache mod_proxy directives. Any requests http://www.oursite.com/zope direct to Zope. Everything appears to work fine :-) Big thanks to: http://www.zope.org/Members/anser/apache_zserver and http://www.zope.org/Members/4am/SiteAccess2 Q1: What are the performance issues we are likely to face with this setup? Q2: Is this enough..? Q3: Should we be also be adding Fast_cgi, pcgi etc?? Site Overview: The site is for artists and will have a lot of media files. We are using zope becuase there will be frequent user uploads into userrole-resricted areass = 'Artists' Studios'. The goal is a miminum maintenance design but alloownig individual freedom. For new contributions we want to use ExtFile, LocalFS and PhotoProduct [PIL thumbnailing] plus some new products of our own tailored for SWF files. For contributors who already have linear HTML page material to upload we can direct them to use the Apache section. Typically these will be 'private' areas, while most of the public sections will be 100% Zope based. Various kinds of frequent Meta-data [user, content, & interface] will be housed as dictionaries in BerekeleyStorage .db files to keep the Zope Undo list tidy. Running zope on port 80

Hi Newbie question My config postgres 7.03 linux mandrake 7.2 zope 2.3.0 i am able to run zope thru port 8080 but i want it to run from port 80 directly i tried logging in as root and maniopulating the z2.py file to set the port to 80 but i get a huge error saying permission denined in z2.py file and Z2.pid etc. Does anyone know what the problem could be ? Zope 2.3.1 install from source

Hello Zopists, I would like to know how to correct build and install Zope 2.3.1 from sources on FreeBSD box. On that box there are few pythons and I need to build Zope with my own build python which is in my home directory. I am not sure if to run wo_pcgi.py with my python is sufficient. Another question is if python for Zope must be compiled with dynamic loading of modules. Thanks for help, if you know any documentation, please give me URL. Bad File Descriptor error - zope crashes at startup

Hi Developing Zope on local laptop [Win98se 192Mb, Zope 2.3.1] before upload to Linux server. A system crash last night and now Zope starts ok, but quits the moment I try to access it from a browser request:=> self.file.flush() IOError: [Errno 9] Bad file descriptor I remember seeing somewhere some clever rescue advice about this situation, some posts begging for help but can't find any followup answers. I do not see a dedicated section in the Documentation page at Zope.org suitably titled: HELP, EMERGENCY, CRASH RECOVERY HOWTOS etc.. Any help much appreciated. PARENTS[0] not working in dtml-in

Hi Somehow my code isn't working like expected: Without the 1st dtml-in loop the PARENTS[0].objectValues brings the results as expected. If I add the 1st loop the results are wrong. They are on level to low ... Hello Dieter, Yes, I have a working copy of mysqlUserFolder, and as suggested by Shane, I created a Portal with the internal acl_users folder, which I then deleted and replaced with the acl_users (MySQL Folder) -- authentication and session managment works pretty well -- although I ma not sure how will the load on the db be effected once it goes on the live system. Can you tell me the reason they use the internal methods as per your comment and why is it bad. I suspect you were using the item from the drop downlist name "script (python)", ie. "internal" python scripts. That's wrong.
