If you go through one, try to set your client to passive mode. FYI: If you're using linux (2.4.x), the module ip_conntrack_ftp just monitors destination port 21 by default to do it's magic, so it works for "normal" ftp, but not for zope's default non standard port. cheers, oliver

hasRole (Bug or My brain is dead?)

Okay, I have this in a dtml method called by a dtml document... (This does the same, btw from the dtml document directly) <hr> <dtml-var expr="_.SecurityGetUser().getUserName()"> <br> <dtml-var expr="AUTHENTICATED_USER.hasRole('Manager', index_html)"> <br> <dtml-var expr="AUTHENTICATED_USER.hasRole('Manager')"> <br> <dtml-var expr="'Manager' in _.SecurityGetUser().getRoles()"> <br> From a non-logged in browser I get: Anonymous User 1 1 0 From a logged in browser (with Manager Role): docwhat 1 1 1 The problem here is that AUTHENTICATED_USER does *not* have the role of 'Manager', despite zope's claims to the contrary! I have tried swapping in and out _.SecurityGetUser() for AUTHENTICATED_USER and have made sure this isn't a caching/proxy problem. Am i brain dead here? This is zope 2.3.1 I am currently using the last one (as it works) but shouldn't the first ones work too? Ciao! -- A hacker does for love what others would not do for money. How to install gvIB on win2k

Hello everybody, I had many difficulties with this installation and want to make thinks easier for others, so I wrote this little how-to: How to install gvIB 0.96 on win2k: ================================= 1. Install interbase server 6.x and copy the file employee.gdb into the folder c:\database 2. Copy the folder gvib as folder into the folder c:\programme\website\bin\lib (replace website with the name of your zope-website) 3. Decompress the dll in the file gvIBBASE.zip and copy it into the gvib-folder 4. test the installation with python on the command prompt: cd c:\programme\website\bin python Python 1.5.2 (#3, Mar 8 2000, 16:34:52) [C] on sunos5 Copyright 1991-1995 Stichting Mathematisch Centrum, Amsterdam >>> import gvib >>> db = 'c:\database\employee.gdb' >>> cn = gvib.connect(db, 'sysdba', 'masterkey') >>> cn.close() >>> ctrl-z RETURN If there was no error, continue: 5. copy the folder gvibDA into the folder c:\programme\website\lib\python\products 6. restart zope 7. look at ControlPanel/Products wether you see the product gvibDA and wether it is not broken (the symbol) If it was installed correctly: 8. add a GV Interbase Data Connection to any test-folder within Zope. Running Zope

Hi, I have install and compile the Zope server. Date Problem

I have just discovered a problem in the date that is displayed in Zope. I have some things that put date/time stamps in my database and then I can display these in a report later. When I display the date I use the following format <dtml-var datevalue fmt="%m/%d/%Y"> the dates are not correct. eg. 3/26/2001 8:36 PM is displayed as 3/27/2001 instead of 3/26/2001. The date value is not always 1 day off sometimes it shows the correct date. I think it has something to do with the time. I checked the time zone settings on all my servers and personal machine. Hi! First of all: We have a client that (because of lame internal policy) will not be able to install zope on the final server. However, they _do_ want zope as a publishing solution for a web that will be practically nothing but dtml docs, images, and folders. They're only intested in accessing the web interface to modify text in custom zclass product interfaces we will make for them. Provided that there are no complicated methods integrated into the zope structure, is it possible to generate a navegable static html version of a zope hierarchy? Our idea is to let them access our server to manage and edit content and to give them a publish option (written in python or perl) that generates the html and ftps the site to a remote, non-zope webserver. The day that the client wants a more dynamic site with searching and such, we would discuss installing zope again on the remote server.
