Error starting Zope

Hello, I have now installed Python 1.5.2 and Zope 2.3.1, however when I try to start Zope I get the following error: Built-in exception class not found: EnvironmentError. Library mismatch? Warning! Falling back to string-based exceptions Traceback (innermost last): File "/home/sites/home/users/admin/Zope-2.3.1-src/z2.py", line 542, in ? import ZServer File "/home/sites/home/users/admin/Zope-2.3.1-src/ZServer/__init__.py", line 87, in ? from medusa import max_sockets, asyncore File "/home/sites/home/users/admin/Zope-2.3.1-src/ZServer/medusa/asyncore.py", line 466, in ? import FCNTL ImportError: No module named FCNTL Unfortuneatley I don't have a clue what all this means, but I guess there is a module missing. Who is using CFM live?

I just started playing with the CFM 1.0 module and am impressed with it so far. It's a great alternative to Interwoven or Documentum (and it's cost is unbeatable :) ). My question to you folk is who is using Zope and the CFM stuff on a live site (besides the actualy Zope sites). Any businesses using this? Unless you've installed a Zope product called LocalFS or one of its cousins, the "files" in Zope are actually objects in the ZODB. The ZODB itself is a single file called "data.fs," and it usually lives in the var directory. Administrative note: this is the file to back up, with it and a fresh install of Zope you can recreate your entire site. If you removed index_html, then you already know a little about the management interface. Go back in there and create a new DTML Document called "index_html" in the same location as the one you deleted, containing whatever you'd like, and that'll fix your 404. At this stage of the game, you can just put HTML in there and worry about DTML a bit later. Yes, the "_" is not only the default, but necessary. You can't change it to a ".", it confuses Python. Once you get used to it, you'll find you really don't have to care what the "files" in Zope are called, and since it's not really a file anyway, the lack of a "." and file extension doesn't matter at all. Return a variable number of objects / ZGDChart

Hi, I am generating a number of lists in this way: It is something like this: <dtml-in "[0,1,2,...,n]"> <dtml-let counter=sequence-index lista="'temp_data'+_.str(counter)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set(lista, ['content'])"> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> I am trying to return this variable number of lists. <dtml-return "(x, y1, y2, y3,...., yn)" > where y1...yn are the lists that I have to pass to a ZGDChat object. The matter is that n is not fixed, so it can be any number and I cannot see the way of sending this "variable length" sequence of objects. Any ideas? Thanks for your help Belen

installing MySQLdb in Linux binary

Hi all, I'm trying to install MySQLdb and ZMySQLDA in a Zope Linux binary v. 2.3.2. The problem I've found is that there's no distutils in the binary distribution, and MySQLdb requires it. Distutils won't install in the Python that Zope is using due to missing config/Makefile. Does anyone have any hint about how to get this installed? Thanks, Arkaitz.

First, yes you are correct in that Zope connects to the SMTP server to send the message from the Zope server, not from the browser client. I bet this problem is due to permissions on the mailhost object. By default only managers can use mailhost objects (to keep anonymous users from using your Zope server as a spam box.) Permissions errors

Hello, I have been fooling around with the permissions om my CMF Site so my Members are no longer able to add new things to there own folder. The permission error is: You are not allowed to access Identifier. What permission settings is this Identifier using and where should it be checked ?
