Virtual Host Monster & the Undo Tab

Hi Evan, Sorry if it seem like I'm picking on you, it's your fault for adding so many great features to Zope ;-) Noticed a bit of a weirdity with Virtual Host Monsters and the Undo Tab. Basically, at appears as if all (may some, which would be worse...) objects accessed via a virtual host monster only appear in the Undo tab of the root of the ZODB. They don't show up on the Undo tab of the object (say it's a folder) at all. The smells like a bug to me but I can see why it's happening, so I thought I'd ask here first to see what other people thought... cheers, Chris

Don¹t use cookiecrumbler product in same folder as UserDB

Just a *minor* note for people here... If you're using UserDB for authentication (or I guess *any* kind of cookie based authentication), stay away from the 'CookieCrumbler' product - at least in that folder. Briefly: (1) UserDB sets authentication cookies, (2) CookieCrumbler eats authentication cookie (yum!) (3) Popup dialog for authentication rather than nice 'in the page' form appears (4) Tony looks at site and code that he *knows* works elsewhere and spends 4 hours going cross-eyed. Makes a change, Quits Netscape, starts Netscape, tries it again. GOTO (1) Astute readers will note there is no escape route from this scenario apart from enlightenment. Database indexing using Z Catalogs

Hello, I am not able to find a way to index and external database say PostgreSQL using Z Catalogs and search the contents. Can anybody help me in this. I couldn't find a complete documentation in the zope site. It will be helpfull to me if somebody can explain to me using an example. IE 5.5 "Warning: Page has Expired"

Dear all, Not exactly a Zope question, but something that has been driving me nutty over the past few weeks whilst using Zope. I am using IE 5.5, with Zope 2.3 on WinNT 4.0. The 'problem' is, that after merrily editing away on some lengthy DTML Documents, I click on 'Save Changes'. Damn - I forgot to close out one of the <dtml-if> statements, so my page has not been saved. Click 'back'... ...but instead of the lovely DTML I was just working on, I get: "Warning: Page has Expired The page you requested was created using information you submitted in a form. This page is no longer available. As a security precaution, Internet Explorer does not automatically resubmit your information for you. To resubmit your information and view this Web page, click the Refresh button." Obviously clicking the refresh button does not help, as this just reloads the frame set, and dumps me back to the main root directory. I'm guessing that this is some security issue in the browser as I am authenticated whilst administering this Zope installation. Any ideas as to how to get round this (apart from obviously saving the stuff more regularly?) This does not appear to be a problem using Netscape, but for some reason I prefer using IE with Zope. Hi there Thanks for the quick response. I tried both suggestions and first gave the same error whereas the second causes some other error. Best Method for my app?

I am a little confused about the best method to create my Zope application. It will manage a unique part of our business that deals in the medial claims field. It will be tracking claims, patients, providers, etc... Each of these 'Objects' will have add, edit, search and detail screens on them. A lot of the times a details screen will access the other objects, for instance, a provider detail screen will show all the claims and patients associated with them, while a claim may show the person, as well as the provider that the claim is for. Should I just be making folders with Z SQL Methods or using ZClasses? Pardon my simplistic question but I am still somewhat new to Zope and want to make the right choice in the beginning of my development process instead of forcing a re-write later down the road. problem manage_upload

Hi all, I have got a problem with the manage_upload methods: I created an uploadImage external method in order to update programmatically. This function works perfectly when I do a simple call to this function like this: if REQUEST["namelogo"]<>'': if self.i.namelogo: self.uploadImage(obj=self.i.namelogo, file=REQUEST["namelogo"]) else: self.addImage(obj=self.i, id='namelogo',file=REQUEST["namelogo"]) def uploadImage(obj,file): f=open('%s' %(file),'rb') f.seek(0) contents=f.read() f.close() title='' tlen = len(contents) new_id = obj.manage_upload(contents) #img_obj = obj.__getitem__(new_id) return '' The problem arose when a more complicated call to this function is made: f = 1 for img in listfile: if REQUEST[img]<>'': if self.i.REQUEST[img]: self.uploadImage(obj=self.i.filename%d %(f) ,file=REQUEST[img]) else: self.addImage(obj=self.i, id=img ,file=REQUEST[img]) f = f + 1 Basically, it says that a string object cannot use the manage_upload method.
