Hello! I'm experiencing Problems with Zope 2.3.1 (WinNT 4) in conjunction with M2Crypto 0.06 snap4 (ZServerSSL) when accessing my Zopeserver via WebDAV with https. When copying files to and from Zope (with IE 5.x or WebDrive) following errormessage is displayed by Zope: 2001-04-10T15:14:36 INFO(0) ZServer recv: closing channel <zhttps_channel connec ted 172.20.16.42:2320 at 1b85c20 channel#: 150 requests:1> unexpected eof The client process (e.g. Eplorer) hangs up and must be killed in the Task-Manager. If I do the same with normal HTTP (no SSL-encryption) all is well. Can anybody confirm the problem? Is there a solution? Using the short form of timezone names (e.g. "EST", "PST", &c.) is a good way to get yourself really, really, _really_ confused. Use the fuller 'Australia/Victoria' or 'United States/Pacific' forms. Or just use UTC/GMT. If your system writes down any records with datestamps in them, you may find horrible things happen to you as you switch on and off daylight savings. Turns out this was a PoPy bug. In particular, PoPy 2.0.2 has a global semaphore it blocks all queries on, including commit and begin. This means if you try to execute a Postgres query that has to block on another transaction (1), you get deadlock, and a hung Zope. -Randy 1: A common case for this is concurrent updates when run in serializable transaction mode (the PoPy way).

Xron changeproperties

Trying to use the following in a DTML method to change the properties of an xronDTMLmethod <dtml-call expr="UserEvent_TEST.manage_changeProperties( title = 'Modified ' + ZopeTime().strftime('%Y%m%d - %H:%M'), executeAt = timestr, periodDays = 1.0, data = 'Test' )"> running this changes the title property of the parent folder of the UserEvent_TEST method (xron method). When you search the mailing list archives for a post "Unexpected acqusition behaviour", you will see some cases, where it will not work. A safe solution is to use "aq_base" (instead of "aq_explicit"). "aq_base", however, is only be allowed in External Methods... Dieter

Python Script that modifies a document property

Frustrated... I want to have a python script that, when called from a dtml-document, will modify the properties of that document[1]. How do I get to the document itself? context and container both reference the the folder with the python script in it! -- cary [1] In the long run I want a unconnected (not-in-a-z-class) python script that can do things to a z-class that has properties and acts like a folder and has things in it. I want the script to be able to modify properties based on other properties, and access the sub-objects. Think workflow rules.
