ext.method to pythonscript - simple question

Having some {very} rudimentary trouble translating External Python Method work done many moons ago into [Zope]PythonScripts. If someone could shine just a little light apples-for-apples, I would really appreciate it. Zope wont write to anything?

hey, ive got zope running but when i try to start it up i get: Traceback (innermost last): File /root/Zope-2.3.1-src/z2.y, line 755, in ? IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: `/root/Zope-2.3.1-src/var/Z2.pid' it starts up fine in read only mode, but when i try to access things using worldpilot, i get the same crap but for worldpilots files. all the directories are writable, and i can touch and write to the files it mentions from bash. could sombody *please* tell me what is going on here? -Joey D'Anna

Problem with passing objects from External Methods

This one has been driving me a bit crazy and I think there is a simple solution to this. I have written an external method to return a list of objects back to a DTML method which executes the code via a dtml-in. The dtml code looks like: <dtml-in processMethod(passthis)> <dtml-var sequence-index><dtml-var data><BR> </dtml-in> And this is passthis.py: import string, regex def passthis(passed): class element: pass info = [] structures = string.split(passed) for structure in structures: bit = element() ## Get Information here, and store it in foo. bit.data = foo bit.source = structure info.append(bit) return(info) --- When I run the code, I get a box that asks me to revalidate my Zope login and nothing works, finally, the system gives up and gives me an error with this at the bottom: File /usr/local/Zope-2.3.0/lib/python/AccessControl/ZopeSecurityPolicy.py, line 168, in validate Unauthorized: data Does anyone have any advice on this one? any known bugs wrt transactions never being committed?

In particular, I'm running Zope 2.3.1 and PostgreSQL 7.1b4, (tried both PoPy and ZPsycopg). The (very annoying!) problem I'm having is the postgres backend is blocking on a transaction that should have already been committed (but wasn't). It seems that a transaction from an earlier request is not being aborted or committed, but rather just left hanging. There are no hung requests, i.e. every page we request we get back in the browser. Problems with the catalog

Hi I'm having problems with ZCatalog and discouvered that the source to my problems is the way ZCatalog catalogs the underscore character(_). When it gets this character the catalog splits the strings. Example: 'qq_root' is indexed ('qq','root'), instead of ('qq_root') Is there any way of bypass this problem without having to change ZCatalog? I'm working in Python directly. Thanks in advance. Distribution of ZClass Product

Hi I would like to distribute a ZClass Product from my Developing Server (Laptop ;) ) to my real public ZopeServer. I tryed the Distribution-Tab ... but I coudn't install it on my public Server. The tar.gz file contained a lib/python/Products/prodName directory and in that directory I found __init__.py, product.dat and version.txt . I copied the prodName directory (including the three files) to my lib/python/Products directory and restarted the server ... nothing happend ... So I transfered it via Import/Export - it worked and I started to run the website including some of my new objects. But now I developed further on my laptop and I would like to transfer the newer version of my product to the public server ... hmm ... well I tryed to play again the import export game ... this didn't worked, corse the MetaName was already inuse (well my Product which I like to update is using it - of corse) ... so I first deleted the Product on the public Server and imported the newer version - but now the new attributes are not available on the instances of the classes ... after a reboot of the server it worked properly * Now my questions. What have I done wrong in the proper way of distribution Zclass products? Is my "Export - delete - Import - reboot - Version" a valid way of doing it? Or do I wake up with a broken Database, crashed Webside, damaged installation? I'm sorry that I'm such a newbie ... but I really apriciate the help of this MailingList ...
