Multiple Products directories

The question then comes where the best place to add it would be. If you are prepared to edit Products/__init__.py add a line: __path__.append('yourpathhere') for each directory you want to add to the default Products directory. Alternatively if you want to avoid editing Products/__init__.py you can inject the extra paths from outside, e.g. from z2.py: import Products Products.__path__.append('extraProductDir') A good place to do this might be custom_zodb if, for example you are using ZEO, although I haven't checked to see whether this would be early enough in the startup, if done too late the extra products won't be picked up. Another option is to create a product to make the change for you. Create a subdirectory in Products called anything you like. e.g. ExtraProducts. Create a file in this directory __init__.py containing: import Products Products.__path__.append('extraProductDir') Change the path to reflect your desired directory structure, restart Zope and you should now pick up products from both directories. In some ways this is cleaner as it isolates the change so you dont have to worry when upgrading your zope system, but it actually works by changing a variable while a for loop is iterating through its contents which tends to worry me. -- Duncan Booth duncan(a)rcp.co.uk

Hi Everyone, Is it possible to have multiple Product directories? I wish to get a shared Products directory between multiple zope instances without using the Products dir in the zope tree itself (as this may get updated, removed, etc). Each site already has its own INSTANCE_HOME for its own, private products, so this one cannot be used. My current solution is to link into the zope Products dir, but I don't like this solution. Cut,Copy and Paste with own ZClass

Hello! I have created a new Product with my own ZClass to define my own type of folder. This ZClass has "ZObject" and "ZFolder" as base classes. Everything is working great but I can´t do "Cut, Copy, Paste or Rename" with instances of these ZClass. What is the problem. ZOPE says "The object xyz does not support this operation". What can I do? RESPONSE.setHeader Command

I am running Zope 2.3.0 on Apache 1.3.14 on FreeBSD 4.0 I have been concentrating on getting my zope site registered in the search engines and I have noticed some interesting behaviour. I was originally using Roxen + Zope and Altavista and (many of the major search engines) were rejecting my site with a response like 'An error occured while visiting your site' - of course they gave not detail of the error. I figured it may be Roxen so I changed to Apache, this helped with Altavista, but still other engines report errors. It is most definitely not a '404 NotFound' error as I am certian the server is ok. So I have done some more testing. I have been looking at the headers which look like: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Tue, 10 Apr 2001 00:23:09 GMT Server: Apache/1.3.14 (Unix) X-Powered-By: Zope (www.zope.org) Python (www.python.org) Content-Length: 24801 Connection: close Content-Type: text/html I then emailed a site that has a .pl script to read headers (which was giving me error also) and found that their site did not like the 'X-Powered-By:' line and simply reported an error. I suspect that this may be the case with other search engines, but I can't tell for sure. My hope is to remove this line and see if it helps, but this is where my problem lies. How do I get rid of this line without modifying the HTTPResponse.py file? I tried to use the RESPONSE.setHeader command, but had no luck at all. I was able to append values to the header line, but I could not remove it or change it. The API documentation says that the value should be changed if you give a new value, but I have found this not to be the case. In fact the setHeader command is working much more like the appendHeader command for me. Does anybody have any idea? Hi It's again me. I'm sorry for that ... Thanks a lot to this comunity of helping angels ;) Now to my new problem: (might my description is to long, but I'm still desperate and are really looking for some help ... the site should be online the 27 of april ... ) In my project (new release with new server [ZOPE ;-) ] of www.kisc.ch Kandersteg International Scout Centre ) I need a vertical submenu (without cookies - so dtml-tree isn't the right thing). I was also looking through the product section of www.zope.org .There are several Products which do such things, but I couldn't find one which is suitable for me. So I tryed to do it with DTML ... but somehow I'm stocked here too (you can find my code at the end of this email) ... Thanks in advance to anybody who can help! [Zope][Tree tag] to fade out elements of the Zope tree

Hello Tom, I managed to compile the DynPersist.c that is needed for ZPatterns on W95 using the instructions at: <http://starship.python.net/crew/kernr/mingw32/Notes.html> Some Setup modification may be needed. In my case: *shared* DynPersist DynPersist.c -I../../ZODB -I/zope/zope-2.3.1-src/lib/Components/Extension Class Zope sources have to be available. Regards, Jan

I supspect that it does not even need javascript. Most javascript for such things is to generate the necessary data structures based on the tree structure. But we have the tree structure data ready on zope already. So it is just to use some dtml to generate the dynamic html with hide/show hot spots.
