Hello All, I have some newbie questions. I'm an experienced perl programmer trying to learn Zope/Python and am trying to do something I know must be possible, but am having a hard time wrapping my brain around this new way of doing things. I have a bunch of document fragments with the following structure: /docs fragment1 fragment2 fragment3 ... doc1/ index_html doc2/ index_html Currently, doc1/index_html and doc2/index_html have the following structure: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h1><dtml-var title_or_id></h1> <div><h3>fragment1 title</h3> <ul> <li><dtml-var fragment1></li> </ul> </div> <div><h3>fragment2 title</h3> <ul> <li><dtml-var fragment2></li> </ul> </div> <div><h3>fragment3 title</h3> <ul> <li><dtml-var fragment3></li> </ul> </div> ... Is there a way that I can do something like this (warning: It's a clunky mix of perl and dtml): for my $f ( qw( fragment1 fragment2 fragment3 ) ) { <div><h3><dtml-var $f-title</h3> <ul> <li><dtml-var $f></li> </ul> </div> } I would prefer to do this entirely in dtml if at all possible (I need to show non-programmers how to do this if I can make it work and they don't wanna know about Python or Perl stuff). Failing that, is there a way I can do this generically enough that a designer could just use a dtml tag and pass the necessary values? Thanks for your input. Alan

How to disable ZODB transaction.

Hi zopistas, I'm developing an site that has a few thousands of transactions per day. The site adds and deletes a lot of DTML Documents. The ZODB grows dramatically and when I pack manually the database it consumes a lot of time. Is there a way to disable the transactions persistence in ZODB? When not, how can I invoke a "pack" from a python script to call it periodically with a cron job?

Error: AUTHENTICATED_USER.hasRoles()

Hello, I can't figure out what arguments the hasRoles function takes. I have tried a lot but it all gives an attribute error. I have these 2 roles - StationMan and ChannelMan - and I need to test whether the logged-in user is either one of them. In addition - I can now make a core file, I think - but nothing's compiled with debugging info. What's the procedure to compile Zope w/ debugging? Timestamp and Bool types in Zope

Hi I'm trying to insert or select timestamp and bool types into a postgres database and I'm using PoPyDA. Zope seem to only have types string, text and int, unless I missed something somewhere. Please help as I'm a newbie? Thanks Grant

My Zope installation (previously working after I reduced the number of parameters to the DTML document) is now crashing again. I made changes, but not that should cause the problem. I take it no-one has any idea what's going on still? webdav not requiring authentication!!

I have a zclass that is CatalogAware and dtml-documentish. Within the zclass, I have two external methods (manage_FTPget and PUT), which are there to catch the output from and input to the webdav_src_port so I can do various things to the text being sent out. The problem is, at the moment, anyone can access the source sent out by manage_FTPget and even upload via the PUT method *without* being prompted to authenticate! I don't think I changed any permissions or anything, I just created the zclass and dropped in the external methods. I assumed Zope would catch the requests and prompt for authentication... is this not the case? Do I have to do it within my external methods???!!! Much obliged if you can help tim

Locking

I am currently working on a project where I would like to give only one person at a time the ability to save a record. For instance if 2 people go to a page that can save the same data I would like to Lock out one of the 2. I can think of many ways to actually lock. My problem is how do I unlock if the person that locked the file just clicks the X on the browser window?
