If you do go with wxPython, there is a pretty good open source IDE called boa constructor. It can be found at: http://boa-constructor.sourceforge.net/ It was written in wxPython and runs on both Windows and Linux. It also has some support for Zope. Corey

Filtered exportObjects

On my site I have quite a lot of Photo's meta_type=['Photo'] and they cause the zexp file to become very very very big (currently 86 Mb for 180 Photos). I would like to export my whole site but skip certain paths or meta types. The best way would be to write a little External Method or Python Script that calls manage_exportObjects() with a filtered object. I just need help to create the new copied object. I tried something like this: copy_of_self = self.copy.__deepcopy__() self.manage_exportObjects(filterbymetatypes(copy_of_self, ['Photo']) ) but copy woun't let me do that. if I had a copy of the object to be specially exported I could...: def fliterbymetatypes(object, metatypes=[]): objects = object.objectValues() for obj in objects: if obj is isPrincipiaFolderish(): # go further filterbymetatypes(obj, metatypes) elif obj.meta_type in meta_types: object.manage_delObjects([str(obj.id)]) ...or something like that (syntax might be bad, but you get the idea) Does anybody have a good solution? UserDB with cookies not working

Hi, I have UserDB working successfully with standard basic authentication. But after going into the properties and switching to cookie authentication it does not work. Now when I try to access a propected page it just skips authentication and shows the page. And if I switch back to standard basic authentication then reload the page, it pops up a login dialog box. can anyone help? thanks much __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? ZClass 'UNSLICEABLE OBJECT' Error Value

I am trying to create specialized document classes that have unique propertysheets, methods, are CatalogAware and renderable via <dtml-var ...>. I have been able to successfully build a structured-text document class that meets these criteria, however, I am unable to build an HTML document class. If I try to use OFS:DTMLDocument or OFS:DTMLMethod as my base class, the ZInstance attempt throws a TypeError with a value of 'unsliceable object'. I have tried many variations on this theme and none were successful. I thought I had a handle on ZClasses but I am obviously missing something major. Note: not that this has anything to do with the above, but I can subclass OFS:File and OFS:Image with no problem. I am using Zope version 2.3.1 on a Win2K platform. Any hints, insight, direction, further-reading links would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance... Eric

I am creating a group called the Free Space Foundation. Well, it's not really a group, but a server which will allow people to collaborate on "open source" space-related items (software, hardware, engines, spacecraft designs, etc.) with the goal of helping individuals and small groups go into space. I'm running all sorts of server daemons on the machine, not the least of which is Zope. I'm not a computer newbie (14+ years experience, programming, HW & SW, support, network and server admin, Unix, NT, Linux, etc.), but I am a Zope and Python newbie, so I need some help. Is there someone who may be interested in donating some of their time and effort to helping build this site? I'm going to put in a lot of effort and time, but I'd like some Zope help to speed up that part of the process. No pay is involved; you'll probably want to get involved only if: a) you are a space advocate, or b) you're a Zope and Python freak. Or both. :-) If you know Perl, that would be a plus. Ways for putting contents into Zope

Hi, what options are there for putting contents into Zope. Let's say I want to use Zope to build an intranet where not specially skilled people (at least not "html" skilled people) has to author most of the site contents. Which approaches can I try? Options that came to mind are: 1) make "contributions" be higly structured (I mean to have many properties and less "free" text) so that I can produce the output like a DB report. 2) try to teach them some StructuredText. 3) try to have them use some other editor to produce "simple" html and import it into Zope. 4) have them put almost plain text and set up some sort to publishing work flow where the plain text get reviewed and edited in steps by different skilled people up to the "final" form? 5) Any experience, other ideas?
