Hello, I am new to python ! I want to pass an argument to an external method. The argument is an dtml document (more precisely: the content of the document). I tried this: <dtml-var ExternalMethod(<dtml-var DtmlDocument>)> This produces a "parse error". I guess there have to be some quotes or brackets - but where? Thank's in advance Andreas

zope 2.3 instability

Hi all, I have a problem of stability with my Zope. seems that every time zope sends the following line to debug.log: <timestamp>: PROBLEM(100) ZServer unhandled connect event. Zope goes in loop, sucks all the available memory and goes down. Some times zope crash my Linux with the message: kernel:VM: do_try_to_free_pages failed for kswapd. I'm thinking to return back to the Zope previous release. Any ideas? Thank you to all. José

sequence-batch variables with dtml-in

Hi, I'm damaging the precious few braincells on the wal I'm banging my head against right now, so I thought I'd ask here. All i want to do is something like: Results 19 to 25 of 33, searching for "one two three" At the top of a dtml-in that's displaying the results of a catalog query. I got this so far: Results <dtml-var query_start> to ??? of <dtml-var sequence-length>, searching for "<dtml-var "REQUEST.searchText">" I need the bit that replaces the ???. I've trie everything i can think of and I'm running out of hari to pull out ;-) Anyone got the answer? cheers, Chris

Uploading a whole folder from the local hard disk

Error when packing Data.fs

Hi, I always have an error when I try to pack the database from manage interface (whatever the number of days I want to keep). Zope 2.3.2/Linux. It worked before upgrading from 2.3.0 to 2.3.2, with the version upgrader (not the full installer) Is there something I should do prior packing the database ? overriding index_html

Hi all, I'm writing some classes in a Python product, and I'd like to be able to override their index_html view so that it can be specified by the folder in which the instances reside. The idea is that if I have myfolder/view, being "view" a DTMLmethod, and I call myfolder/myobject, it will be equivalent to calling /myfolder/myobject/view, is this possible? TIA, Arkaitz.

Filling a drop-down menu with SQL data (Problem with argument passing)

Hello everybody, I have been trying and trying the whole day but I still have not found any solution to my (simple?) problem: => I want to fill my HTML DropDown menu with data from a SQL table. My SQL Method (sqlShowTypes) takes one argument which I have defined in the Z SQL Method Properties as "TypeName". The function is as follows: SELECT Typ FROM <dtml-if expr="TypeName=='Researcher'> tblStaffResearchers <dtml-else>tblStaffManagement </dtml-if> When testing this method seperatly from the calling dtml document it works fine. After specifing a TypeName Parameter it returns all the rows from the Typ-column. Now, in my DTML Document I have a Variable "Typ" (either containing 'Researcher' or 'Management'). This one I want to pass to sqlShowTypes as the TypeName parameter. My first try was: <dtml-in expr="sqlShowTypes('<dtml-var Typ>')"> : not working (Bad Request, Error Value: ['Typname']) 2nd try: <dtml-in expr="sqlShowTypes(TypName='<dtml-var Typ>')"> : somehow working but my drop-down menu is filled with 5 empty spaces! 3rd try: <dtml-in expr="sqlShowTypes(TypName=Typ)" : again, somehow working but again EMPTY SPACES! I would need a proper statement that would embedd just fine in my drop-down code: <dtml-in expr="...."> <option> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in></select> </td> If you are that Zope Guru I'm so badly in need of, please help me with that problem! Back when I used to see the "best viewed with Netscape 4 or IE 4" disclaimer at the bottom of pages I used to cringe. Now I'm beginning to feel like "if you can't see it, get a new browser. One that works." Most things are still viewable to people who use Netscape 3 even. There are people here who still use it. But those people don't care about the "web experience" that all of the web designers using Flash and Java care about. They want the content and the content will be there as long as we stick to the standards. If someone wants the web experience, give it to them, give it to them good, but stop working around them. Give them twice as much but make them use the right tools. Maybe everyone should just use lynx or w3m. (Which the Zope management screens looks great in anyway.) My $1.57. -Chris

Hello, >From time to time I an full of hope, and I start debugging the Zsever, to try to get rid of hangs :-) My question of today is: - when are http_channel zombies closed? the code look like (http_server.py): maintenance_interval = 500 def check_maintenance (self): if not self.channel_number % self.maintenance_interval: self.maintenance() =>so every 500 channels creation?? - what trigger the creation of a new channel?.... - same question for the thread. If someone is interrested to modify/debug the Zserver code, please join me. Gilles

isinstance issubclass and zope 2.4

Will isinstance and issubclass be fixed with the move to python 2.1 in zope 2.4? This is a fairly important feature for the continued development of some of my products.
