converting objects

The following is an external method I wrote for converting an object(presumably a file object) into an Image. It works fine, but seems a scary way of doing it, i.e. deleteing the object that the method is currently working on. I was hoping there was a method that lets you reset the object ... eg : self._setObject(new_image_object) instead of making a new one and deleting the old one. def convert_it(self,REQUEST): """convert to image""" new_id = self.id() new_title = self.title temp_data = self.data REQUEST.PARENTS[1].manage_delObjects(self.id()) REQUEST.PARENTS[1].manage_addImage(new_id,temp_data,new_title) return "thanks" regards Matt

dtml-if problem

Hello, I have a little problem, but I don't find the solution for it. Apache, mod_rewrite, https working together?

One of the strengths of the mod_proxy solution is that it it possible to use apache-ssl to convert https requests to http. But, that comes with the cost that it is quite difficult for the Zope server to know the actual remote IP. It would be nice to be able to use the E=... flag setting of the RewriteRule to set the REMOTE_ADDR to something visible to Zope. Has anyone used mod_rewrite directives to proxy an https request onto an http zope site? Does the E= flag permit forwarding the REMOTE_ADDR? Thanks Jim Penny

using ZPublisher.Client to add IOBtree

I am trying to use load_site to convert the unihan.txt into a zope object. I want to add many objects, so I think IOBtree is more suitable. ExtImage and Email

Hello, I am trying to send an image of class ExtImage as attachment in an email. If image is of class Image I can do this: <dtml-boundary type=application/octet-stream disposition=attachment name=myTest.gif encode=base64> <dtml-var "myTest.data"> But which method (I couldn't find one) have I to use when image is of class ExtImage? Zope book comment form

Is the comment form at http://www.zope.org/DocProjects/Book/comments active? Once again, I submitted a list of typos, and I don't see the entry in the bug tracker. Here's what I caught scanning the first 50 pages. it's friendly, open source license Zope let's you it's ZEO technology based on it's id it's URL would be it's purpose is to It'd be great if new users could at least get through the first few pages before they encounter a typo. I want people to think of Zope as being a polished product. Thank you. --kyler

Viewing a version of a website?

Hi all If I am working on a version of a website, how do I view the website reflecting the current version I am working on and not the one visible to the public. Due to some JavaScript that we use, I cannot view the site in the management interface and must open a seperate browser on which to view the site. Also, is there a way of auto-joining a version the moment I log in? I want to avoid the possibility of editing the "live" website by accident if I forget to join a version. An alternative would be to lock all the objects in a site to the current edit version, but I don't know how to do that - any suggestions? Any pointers to articles on using Zope versioning would also be very helpful as I couldn't find any on Zope.org or other sites. Etienne
