Unique IDs

Hi, What's the best way to generate a secure unique ID in Zope? I've tried generating a random integer then md5'ing it, but trying to do an md5.new() causes Zope to prompt for authentication. I'm running this as a user who's an out-of-the-box Manager - what other permission is needed? Or is there a better way of doing it? gadfly question

Hello there this fine sunday morning, here in Switzerland its pissing rain you would not dare to go outside without scuba gear. So I fiddle with gadfly. Which brings me to my question: Is there a way to access gadfly without the user interface. I would like to create and fill tables from an external script. Thanks Robert

ZCatalog and VirtualHostMonster

i have been trying to use ZCatalog with VirtualHostMonster according to http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/ZCatalogVirtualHostFix/UpgradeFAQ everything should work right out of the box, but unfortunately, when objects are indexed, getPhysicalPath() doesn't seem to getting used e.g. i have site.foo.com and subsite.foo.com being served out of /site and /site/sub using VirtualHostMonster but, /site/sub/test_object is indexed as /sub/test_object, if i view it from site.foo.com, and /test_object if i view it from subsite.foo.com i am using Zope 2.3.2 and was under the impression that ZCatalogVirtualHostFix had solved this particular problem also, i tried to run manage_normalize_paths on my ZCatalogs, however, i get: 0 paths normalized, 21 paths removed, and 0 unchanged where 21 is the number of objects in the ZCatalog -- best regards, tav tav(a)espnow.com

tar.gz for ZStylesheet available

Hi all, although I appreciate the work by haqa that resulted in ZSTyleSheets, I always find it annoying to always spen half an hour to convert all the filenames of this package to be usable on a Unix system. haqa mentions a tar.gz file in the documentation but there is none to find on zope.org. It would be preferrable to provide only a tar.gz - Windows users would have no problem and Unix users too. I changed all the lowercase filenames to the "right" ones yesterday. anonymouse ftp access only

I would like to setup the ftp server for zope so that it allows anonymous access only. IE no user can login with ftp. I have been working with M2Crypto and will be redirecting all http logins through https so ftp is the only other security hole. I do want people to be able to batch download some files from the site and they seem to prefer ftp. Help with the rpm

Hi All, I recently downloaded the zope 2.3.2 rpm (Zope-2.3.2-1.i386.rpm) from http://starship.python.net/crew/jrush/Zope/Zope232.html tried the install, but it did not work for me on Linux Mandrake 8.0. I have python 2.0 installed and running. does anyone know how to write the start up script that will run zope as a service. I also tried the how-to: Startup script forRedhat Linux..this also failed

Simple question? Increment by 1!

Hi there, I hope this is going to the right forum - if not, my apologies. :-) I'm hoping that this is a fairly simple question to be answered - I'm fairly new to Zope and am only a novice programmer at best :-) I am running a MySQL query (Find_Last_Callnote) which looks like this - select max(CALLNOTENUM) from callnote where JOBID = '<dtml-sqlvar JobID type="int">' so basically I'm trying to get the maximum value in field CALLNOTENUM given a specific jobID. This all works fine however what I want to do then is increment the last CALLNOTENUM by 1 and then add a new callnote with that number So my DTML Method looks something like this except I have left out the bit where I would have to increment the number by 1 and then call the update function - <dtml-in Find_Last_Callnote> <dtml-if max(CALLNOTENUM)> <p>This is not the first callnote</p> ?????? WHAT DO I DO HERE ?????? <dtml-else> <p>This is the first callnote</p> <dtml-call Insert_First_Callnote> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> Unfortunately when using SQL functions such as 'max' the dtml variables assigned come back which Brackets in them - this means that if I try to do a <dtml-if expr="max(CALLNOTENUM etc.)"> the dtml is not interpreted correctly and results in an error. I assume I might have write a python script to pull this off, is that true? and if so how would I do that. Of course I'm probably trying to do this the hard way, so if there is an easier way could you let me know? :-) Many thanks, Michael
