referencing title value as a var name

Goodday, My first question is that is it possible to store the title value of an object with <dtml-let> and later reference it with <dtml-if > in another object? if it is possible, pls furnish me with the deatils. Else i think i better explain what i actually have in mind. What i wanted is to list the titles of all the dtml documents in a folder, set the hyperlink of each dtml document to its id and finally store the value of the clicked title in a variable name. I think I am able to scale through this, but my problem now is to reference that variable name in another object. Below is the code i used to iterate and store the title value; this code is on one object called content_html: <ul> <dtml-in "objectValues(['DTML Document'])" sort=title> <li> <a href="&dtml-id;/">&dtml-title; <dtml-let dname="_['sequence-var-title']"> </dtml-let> </a> </li> </dtml-in> </ul> Below here is where i am having a problem, the code here is on another object called index_html but both content_html and index_html are in the same folder. <dtml-let dday=dname> <dtml-if expr="dday[0:6]=='Saturd'"> <dtml-var saturday2> <dtml-elif expr="dday[0:6]=='Friday'"> <dtml-var friday2> <dtml-elif expr="dday[0:6]=='Sunday'"> <dtml-var sunday2> <dtml-else> <dtml-var table2> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> Help in any form will be highly appreciated. Finding an object i python script

Hello I'm working on a python module where I need to find an object from another python module. All I have is the id of the object. Can I use restrictedTraverse in a python script or how do I do it ? Hmmm...maybe more details are in order: I've got a PowerPC running Debian-woody. I don't have a clue what egenix is, and I can't seem to find a Debian package for it, either. A find / -name egenix turns up nothing. Neither does a "locate". I looked in the debian archive, and it ain't there that I can tell. So, what's egenix, and where can I get that? Incompatibility of debug method in silent mode on Win32

Hi, On win32, if I turn on the silent switch when using debug(), I'll get this error: file not found '/dev/null' Is there another switch for win32? Or it wasn't implemented at all? Question about the default view of a ZClass named index_html

Im trying to create a product for a simplified Content Management System based on Zope (i.e. even simpler than the Zope interface ;-) ). To do this, I want the equivalent of a DTML document, with a custom editing interface... I have created a new product, containing a ZClass which has the following base classes: ZObject, CatalogAwareBase, ZDTMLDocument. I'm doing OK with this, except that I can't figure out how to make a product instance use it's default 'View' method when it is named 'index_html'. If I call it index_html, the following URLs get me a zero sized reply of mime-type text/x-unknown-content-type. http://server/MyFolder/ http://server/MyFolder/index_html However, I can use the object as http://server/MyFolder/index_html/index_html And everything goes well.... Also, if I rename the object to something else, I don't have this problem. Anyone have a solution/workaround for this bug? Greetings, Michiel

Difference between id and getId()?

I am a newbie to Zoip and apologize if this is a trivial question, but it has been giving me grief for several hours now. I have found by experimentation that when iterating through a set of objects and testing their ids that the following only seems to work ONLY for folders: <dtml-if "id == 'theObjectIdString'> .... </dtml-if> If however I use the code: <dtml-if "getId() == 'theObjectIdString'> ... </dtml-if> all seems to work correctly. Obviously I am missing something very basic here. TIA Dave.

Newbie Questions

Background: I want to build a multiple choice test framework. Everybody should be able to create a new account and them make tests. Some special people should be able to create new questions. Import and export of questions should be done using XML. I want to store the questions and the results of the testees in ZODB. How do I store data in it? The ZODB-Howto covers only the usage of ZODB without ZODB. How do I create a class "testee" and store it in ZODB? If I use a external method and a own database-file this would be no problem.
