can one pass values through the 'action' property?

I'm trying to do this: <form action="get_row?row=3" method="POST"> ... <input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit"> .... </form> However, "row" does not show up in the REQUEST namespace, even though a similar syntax works in a HREF tag. Can this be done? I know I can add a hidden input tag, but it's a little messier. Thanks, Albert

Dreamweaver WebDAV & locking ??

I'm sure someone cleverer than I knows how this should work. Zope 2.4.0, Python 2.1.1, Dreamweaver 4.01 When creating a file for the first time with webdav DW attempts to lock the resource, Zope creates Nullresource-Lock item as a placeholder (all well and good, I thought) but then DW fails to upload the real contents claiming either 'Resource locked' or 'Resource not found'. I haven't been able to figure the system which selects one or other of these two replies. This smells of pilot error to me so please, anyone who sucessfully uses DW webdav, do you have a takeoff checklist ?? Thanks, Nigel.

Being sure that my number is Int

Im making a very simple python script within zope. It has only one parameter and all it does is add 1 to the param value: a = param b = a + 1 return (a) The problem is (I guess) that 'param' isnt a Int value, how can I "say" to zope that it is? Thanks for the help!!

Advice needed: completely scrubbing zope from win2k server

I managed to get Zope working again on different machine than the one I was experiencing difficulties with (still experiencing, actually), and proved to myself that the database does in fact work. On the assumption that it's something in a botched install or registry entry, I'm planning to completely scrub zope from the server, and reinstall. That in mind, what sections of the registry and file system do I need to go through. I'm aware of HKML/.../Services/<Zope>, but don't know if that's sufficient: I've tried straight uninstall/reinstall and the problem persisted. My goals: reinstall zope, re-import the VHOSTS folder and recreate the access rule, move zope to port 80 (existing IIS website on 80 to move to 8080). I'd prefer ZOPE as a service, but things aren't looking pretty for it so far, since it automatically tries installing as 8080 and my attempts to change the port have not worked well. ... Advice? Keith

Future watch: how will python division change affect zope?

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone here has given any (rational) thought on what python's PEP238 affects zope, zope coders and zope users. For those of you that don't know, PEP238 which is still be thought about, will change how the division operand ('/') works with integers. Currently the following is what happens in python int/int == int 2/1 == 2 3/2 == 1 3/4 == 0 under PEP238 this will change to int/int == float 2/1 == 2.0 3/2 == 1.5 3/4 == 0.75 to do integer division you would have to use a _new_ operand ('//'). Now first off, this PEP has not been accepted (although Guido is leaning towards it), and there supposedly will be 2 years of warnings before it changes. But I'm not sure how the warnings are going to appear in dtml calls or the python methods? I just checked and divmod is available so you could do <dtml-var expr="_.divmod[a,b][0]"> to get the same value as <dtml-var expr="a/b">. I'm more concerned with the python methods that are out there or will be going out there. Should we start coding defensively? AttributeError: _v_blocks

Hi! I am having a problem with Zope after upgrading to v2.4.0, and I am not exactly sure when it started to crop up... but I am getting AttributeError exceptions whenever I attempt to Add or View any of the following objects: Accelerated HTTP Cache Manager External Method Mail Host RAM Cache Manager Script (Python) Site Access Rule SiteRoot Virtual Host Monster Vocabulary Z SQL Method Z Catalog Zope Tutorial Other objects add/view/manage just fine. For each of these AttributeError exceptions, I get a similar stack trace where it choked in line 241 in python/App/special_dtml.py (see below). Does this error look obvious to anybody? For what it is worth, I may not have upgraded correctly. I know I have fiddled with permission settings after running ./install (docs recommend not to launch as root, but I run it on port 80); and I also just copied the Data.fs* files from my prior Zope-2.3 tree into my Zope-2.4 tree... without running any type of converter utility on it. Finally, I installed the ZPT products (Page Templates, ZTUtils, TAL) latest version I think. Any ideas? Hello everyone. As first reported by Andy "Scoop" McKay on ZopeZen, we're changing our name from Digital Creations to Zope Corporation. The name change has the fortunate side effect of letting us be referred to as ZC instead of DC, which almost sounds the same if you speak with a lisp. :^) The news is up on LWN, which links to the press release. LWN also announced the 2.4 release. Why are we doing the name change? Good question, especially since I used to make the spiel about the company name being separate from the software name. In a nutshell, it confused the mess out of everyone. Briefly stated, Zope needs to appeal better to the crowd that expects good packaging and clear brands. We've trial ballooned this with a number of you over the last couple of months and the need for this is conclusive. There's a new site at www.zope.com that reflects the change. I expected to tell the Zope list on Friday, but we're still sorting through some font issues. :^( Does this harbinger any other major changes? Not really <wink>. :^) Seriously, we're looking at a number of things to make Zope well-positioned and competitive, as well as doing the same for the things DC/ZC does. The biggest thing in the coming weeks is, by a mile, opening up the CVS. This is the beginning of a series of steps to really work together with the community and tap into the potential that's been underutilized. I'm quite happy with where the direction is going on this and the likely outcomes. We'll be at the O'Reilly conference this week, sporting new brochures and shirts. We'll be giving away some of our stockpile of deprecated Zope shirts with DC on the front, so drop by our booth and get some of these hot collectibles before they're out of issue! :^) --Paul

Filemaker Pro 5.5 ODBC and Zope

Things I needed to know and finally figured out, and this may not be the only possible solution though I think I tried every other combination: 1. Apparently, the Local Database Companion is invisible to ODBC, and connections fail. 2. When the Remote Database Companion is used, everything works as advertised. 3. You do not need to specify individual Filemaker files to the ODBC setup. Give it a single name, and properly shared open files will appear as tables to SQL under that DSN.
