Zope process memory leak?

I have been watching my zope process carefully now for a few weeks and I have noticed that it seems to have a memory leak. It generally starts off at about 70Mb Ram and then grows up to about 240Mb over about 5 to 10 days. It then forks a new process and starts over again. This seems to have little effect on the usage and apart from the occasional restart of Zope goes unnoticed. I am just curious if this is normal behaviour of have I done something wrong? I am running Zope 2.3.2 on FreeBSD 4.0. My site is not heavily loaded. Daily averages are:- Hits:37582 Files:28587 Pages:13134 Visitors:964 TIA Tom

Error creating file (426) when accessing Zope using FTP

Hi All I have a problem with Zope that I can not solve, althoug I checked the web etc..: I try to upload a file to my Zope installation at localhost:8021 using FTP. When I "put" the file I keep getting an error 426, error creating file. The Zope is 2.4.0 for Mac OS X with Python 2.1 I log in as regular Zope user that is defined in the root acl_users folder and that has the Manager role. I tried various FTP clients (console, Pepper, GoLive), always the same result. I am getting crazy on this one... Any ideas? BTW: I have the same problem with another Zope Installation on Linux. SSL + ProxyPass + Zope question...

Hello, Apache is listening on port 80 and 443, Zope listening on port 8080. When a request comes in for port 443 (or HTTPS) Apache forwards the request to Zope on port 8080 and sends the results back out thru SSL, just as it should. If a user goes to https://mysite.com/PasswordProtectedArea/ an SSL connection is created and the password is forwarded to Zope after it's been sent thru SSL. However, if the user goes to http://mysite.com:8080/PasswordProtectedArea/ Apache never sees the request and it goes straight to Zope. The user is then prompted for a password, which would be sent back to Zope without SSL. So my question is, how do I keep Zope from accepting any requests from the outside world unless they've gone thru Apache first? Can I tell Zope to listen on something like 192.168.1.123:8080 so that it will never see requests from the outside world? TIA, Eric.

I've been playing with Zope for a couple of months now, and actually creating my thesis about using intranet's to various cool things and - duh - creating intranets with Zope. What I quickly learned while working with non tech. people, Zope with MsWordMungrer, STX_Document and other great tools wasn't yet enough. Eventhough Structured text is nice and powerfull tool, it is good only for techies who are willing to really learn the rules. People who only were concerned about the content, wanted a better tool for editing information. And if possible, that tool could resemble Word. I just bougth Realobjects Edit-on-Pro (http://www.realobjects.de/english/editonpro_e.htm) and replaced all my textarea-inputfields in our intranet's pages. Wow - what a difference! If you have a budget for your project and want to take your Zope-project to the next level, check that product out.

Hi Zopelist, I'm writing an article contrasting Zope and Lotus Notes/Domino. If Person1 has a local role of 'FolderViewer' in Folder1, but not in Folder2, he cannot do 'FolderViewer' things in Folder2, even through acquisition. At least, that's how it should work. Security in Zope is an entirely local affair, and neither the client session state nor anything other than location matters. You only have the access of a local role in the object in which it was granted and its children. Not siblings, not ancestors, nothing else. Consider it like placing a user folder in a subfolder of root: users cannot authenticate at the root level or in other folders, only in the folder in which the user folder lives. --jcc (authenticated)

I have an User Folder with the logins of the users, but I want to store more information about this users (like his full name). I usually do this with another folder that contains 'files', where the Id is the login and in his properties I store other information. I want to know if there is other way to do this easier (better without using a DataBase). Thank you.

form action with python script

Hi, I'm working with a Python Script in Zope but I'm having some problems. I'm trying to call a python script in a "form action" because I have to make some calculations with some values of this form. I call like this: <form name="form1" action="a_python_script"> but normally a form action calls another page. So, the question is: I'd like to call a python script and, in this script, make a redirect to another page(url). Can I do that?? I hope you can help me :) Sorry if I'm not being clear! structured text bug in Zope 2.4.0 warning

Some of my formatting looked the same when using IE, but with Opera I noticed the difference because the structured text refused to stay center aligned despite that I had this: <div align="center"><dtml-var "ShowDescription(REQUEST['text'])"></div> So, be careful if you use Zope 2.4.0, structured text. The worst that can happen is that the HTML is so invalid that it doesn't work on some browsers. Cheers, Peter
