Another plea about Large File Support

Hi, The system I'm working on is Debian 2.2 (potato) with a ReiserFS 3.5 partition on it. I'm assured that on this setup, I should be able to have files of up to 4GB in size, currently I get barfage at exactly 2GB :-( What do I need to do to get Python 1.5.2 and Python 2.1 compiled in such a way that I can have a Data.fs bigger than 2GB? Is there anything I need to do to either Zope 2.3.2 or Zope 2.4.0 to make this work in addition to having Python compiled with Large File Support? cheers, Chris

Do you want to simulate the hierarchy? It would not be necessary from Zope's point of view... If you want to, you could implement the hierarchy with appropriate container objects inside your product class. It might be possible that you can simply use "OFS.ObjectManager"s as containers. But it may be possible that the "Persistent" included in "ObjectManager" makes life a bit difficult for you. If this would be the case, you would have two options: 1. hack around persistence (by setting "_p_changed" to 0, after you have build the container) 2. build your own container. You may look at the "Products.CMFCore.DirectoryView" (part of CMF) on how to do this. Dieter

Self-deletion of a Zclass instance

Hi, everybody. How can I set up a self-destruct method in a Zclass? I'm putting together a calendar of events that is editable by certain individuals, and it needs to handle the removal of events from the list. I currently have some code in a DTML document that handles the deletion, but I'd much rather simply allow a calendar entry to have a 'delete' method that does the appropriate stuff. Is this possible? (I've done quite a bit of Zclass work, and gone through the various tutorials and manuals, and haven't found anything appropriate. I certainly don't rule out the possibility that I've simply overlooked an obvious passage, and won't be offended by an 'RTFM' response, if it mentions which portion of the FM to look in...) --- Chris

images and HTML code in a product

I'm quite new with Zope, so I apologize if this question is trivial. I am writing a product which generates HTML pages with references to a large number of images and HTML files. I would rather not duplicate these images and files in each instance of the product, but have them reside in the 'Products' directory itself. How can I 'publish' these files from the 'Products' directory, so that they can be found by every product instance through the acquisition process. gregory (greg(a)gpy.com)

[Q] How to get "Owner" access to work properly?

Hi, I'm new in this Zope thing and sorry, if I ask a boring old question, but I didn't find any FAQ and this mailinglist here is my last hope :). CONFIGURATION 1. So, I downloaded Zope 2.4.0 binary executable package for windows and installed it on win2000. 2. I (with manager rights at manager page) made a folder (say my_folder) for a web page, added an acl_users folder to this folder 3. I made the web page private by unchecking "Acquire permission settings?" checkbox from "View" permission and adding the checkbox to "Manager" role. 4. I added a special role for the my web page users into my_folder's Security tab, say "Author" with following permissions: Add Documents, Images, and Files Add Folders View 5. I added users alice and bob (two famous paranoics in security related literature) and made a simple file upload form with a possibility to also delete the upploaded files. PROBLEM I want to get the situation where each user can delete only these files that are uploaded by this user. I tried deleting with calling manage_delObjects from DTML document. 1. When I set up the checkbox for "Delete objects" _only_ to role "Author", then everyone with this role can delete the file, even those who are not owners of the file. 2. When I set up the checkbox for "Delete objects" _only_ to role "Owner", then nobody can delete the file, even the file owner. For example, when Bob uploads a file, then I can see from management page's ownership tab, that the file owner is Bob, but if Bob tries to delete the file, he gets a dialog box asking password (although he is already logged in as a Bob) and if clicking Cancel (using IE 5.50.4522.1800), he gets an error (see Appendix below). According to Zope documentation, the Owner's role should applie automatically for owned files, but here it doesn't work. Why? File Upload returns "application/octet-stream", not correct type

This is possibly a browser error, rather than a Zope error, but I can't find any references on the web for a browser bug. When we upload to Zope (via a form that we build, or by simply adding a "File" object through the management interface), it comes out as "application/octet-stream" rather than as the appropriate MIME type. This only happens on one computer (Win 98, IE 4), suggesting a browser bug, but I can't find any references on the web about a problem with this. Does Zope do any mangling at all of MIME types?
