hi, I'm looking for a simple interface to a folder where people can add/delete/view a folders contents (it will be things like .doc and .pdf files). Does a Product already exist for this? Kind of like a LocalFS, but not local. Thanks, j. -- ...................... ..... Jason C. Leach ..

pleae enlighten me about 404, error codes... i edited our 404 document. i noticed it doesn't work if the file is less than 500bytes. how come? di ba sa apache yun? I haven't used OpenACS or anything of the like, but I would suggest that Zope offers a much more flexible system for developers with a few things you won't get with ACS: 1 - An object database - much more natural for non-programmers to work with content directly within its repository. 2 - Python - which should be easier to develop any sizable application than TCL on any day 3 - ACS seems to have been hijacked by Java terrorists within AD. Python is almost always going to yield much quicker class development than Java: likely twofold or better. 4 - There is a lower barrier for maintaining a Zope installation, because you can develop a solution that is free of RDBMS or the need for an external web server. So I guess what I am getting at is that, in theory, Zope has a lower entry barrier for folks to make modifications to the applications developed on top of it, and a lower TCO; this would be a crucial thing for non-profits, I would think... ZCatalog Search Interface Broken (help?)

Hi, all. First, the versions: Linux, Zope 2.3.0, python 1.5.2 A while back, I set up a couple of Catalog-aware ZClasses that auto-update to a Catalog in Zope's root folder. In that same folder, I added the standard "Z Search Interface". Somemtime within the last couple of months, the search interface stopped working; searching on any of the indexed properties of either ZClass returns no results whatsoever. Here are the things I checked in various combinations, multiple times: - Create new ZClass(es): they still auto-update in the Catalog, search fails - Update the Catalog: looks good, search fails - Verify the Indexes of the Catalog, redo "Find Objects": works fine, search fails - Trash original "Search_Form" and "Search_Report" DTML Methods, add new from management interface: use Zope defaults, search fails During the last month or so, I removed one property from one of the ZClasses, and added a different one... neither of which were ever (nor will ever be) indexed by the Catalog or searched for via the interface. Has anyone run into a similar problem (and, hopefully found a solution)? Thanks in advance for your zen & guidance. -Gary

The zope management interface has a nice tab folder "widget". Sure would be nice if there was a <dtml-tab> Thanks, Albert

The CFM installation has instructions for UNIX/LINUX; but not forWindows. I'm a complete novice with ZOPE and want to instal CFM and use it to train myself. Can someone point me to the doc for this? Thanks Tom

connection string to postgresql *socket*

Hi, Since my Postgresql and Zope run on the same box, I would rather like to connect Zope to a postgresql socket than to an open port. I know the connection string to connect to a port is of the form "database@host:port user password" but I cannot find any documentation on the connection string for a socket.. (Zope 2.3.3 on FreeBSD 4.2 with Postgresql 7.1.2 and ZPyGreSQLDA-0-0-3 ) TIA, Reinoud

On... http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Misc/InstallingZope.html ...from which I came from just after downloading Zope 2.4.0. There is no title, and the section on installing from source says that one must have p 1.5.2. Could reponsibles please update this?

Erch? I've had no such problem. I've used both PCGI and ProxyPass/VHM. I suspect the browser. The only difficultie I had with PCGI was uploading a 1.2M file over https on a dialup connection (It was slow and IE almost timed out -- DSL in 2 weeks :).
