problem with catalog avareness

hi all, i made a catalog aware class and want to use it with a catalog. i'm running zope 2.1.4 on a nt server (sp5). when i add the catalog aware object, it is automatically listed in the catalogs 'catalog' tab, but the indexes are not automatically updated (when i want to search them with a search interface, they do not exist). strange thing: when i copy the object in the manage enviroment, an paste it afterwards at same place, everything work fine! can someone help me! thanx

ZCatalog and the sad state of Zope Book

Zope Book, once enticing me to delve into Zope, is once again outdated :-( I downloaded Zope 2.4.1 hoping to make use of new Indexes. I tried to follow the first few paragraphs in Zope Book. No go. Here's what I did step by step: - Created ZCatalog with the id "Catalog" in root folder. - Cataloged all DTML documents (I have just about 150). - Entered the "Add Z Search Interface", and selected Catalog as the searchable object. - Gave "rrr" as Report id, and "sss" as Search input id. Clicked Add. The methods "rrr" and "sss" were created. - Clicked on "sss". Clicked on the View tab. Crash: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Hi, Are there some people who already are using a poll product or have used several poll products. I would like to use one and I'm curious if some people want to share there experience. Another question is, how can you make sure that the user can enter only one vote? Is this done with cookies? But that method isn't really safe Thanks in advance, tom

Development in Zope. Please, help!,For all Zopers

Hi all. This is been very frustrate. I´m looking for something to do the CVS under Zope. Some ideas, all ideas, all experiences CAN help me. My question is very simple. Did you develope any application, what ever it was, under Zope with a group of user, sharing an stable version, with a development version, and with personal folders for each developer?. How did you do it? Ok, I have any ideas. This is what i did. I have looked for products in Zope.org. I found some products, but I think they don´t resolve my problem. ZCVSMixin, ZCVSFolder (where is it?, I have looked for it in older Zope, but it is switched off). I have looked the mailing list (thank you, Scott), but I found nothing. Only found interesting discussion, but not solutions. Only ideas, but not under Zope, like make the /home/developer/hisZopeFolder for each developer and make a script to start General Zope with each folder. But, It´s very difficult to understand (unless, for me). I found some thread where the talk about making Data.fs copies, but it´s difficult too. I see the ViewCVS, but it doesn´t run under Zope. I´m looking for a good idea. For experience in this field. I think it´s important for all Zope developers. It´s only to solve a problem: The Best (maybe, easy) Way To Do It. I supposse someone, at least one, has to do something like this, to control the developing (and developers) of a Zope Application. Did you do it? Are you doing it?, How? Answer, please. Document Management System needed

Hi Zope People! I am searching a document management system which allows workflows, integration of incoming FAX, filling out of forms and editing MS-Office documents via http. I programmed a python product in my sparetime and like it. But the tasks listed above need some external products. Which one? How could I do this? There will be about 20-50 people editing and up to 3 people programming. Any ideas are welcome. Even ideas how to do this with non-zope solution. Error Type: error / 23 - 'too many files open in system'

Error Type: error Error Value: (23, 'Too many open files in system') This error appears on a page being rendered when it and another zclass are simultaneously being edited. This is strange and I dont see the relation. Where can I find docs on errors to research this? anyone seen this before? I thought Zope didnt care if a page was being modified...it renders the most currently saved version, right? Thanks, Trevor

excluding objects with a certain title from tree

Hi all, I've been banging my fingers for hours. Using the tree tag, I'm trying to find a way to display folders, and exlude folders with a certain id. Here's what I have so far. Calling the tree: <dtml-tree portal branches="<dtml-var left_tree_nodes>"> <a href="&dtml-portal_url;/<dtml-var tree-item-url fmt=url-quote>"><IMG SRC="<dtml-var icon>" BORDER=0><dtml-var title_or_id></a> </dtml-tree> the left_tree_nodes method: <dtml-unless "id == 'Members' or id == 'hidden'"> <dtml-return "objectValues('Portal Folder')"> </dtml-unless> If I do something like: <dtml-tree branches_expr="oejbectValues('Portal Folder')"> <dtml-unless "id == 'Members'"> <dtml-title> </dtml-unless> </dtml-tree> I get a plus sign where the folder 'Members' is located, just no title. ZClasses and aquisition

Hi there, I created a Zclass that renders some data and displayes it. I use DTMLMethod as one of its base classes. One of the classes methods is called index_html. This method calls the rendering function. So http://..../myInstane works fine. However when I want to embed the output within an other page I either get the wrong output, or an error. using: <dtml-var myclass> produces just the content of the DTMLMetho (instead of rendering it first). <dtml-var expr="myclass.index_html()"> claimes that the rendering function I defined in the class are not defined. So how can I use my ZClass like a function, or how can I embed its output in an other page?? thanks Robert
