Retrieving Rows, Columns, and ??Column Headings?? from RDB?

Using an external database such as MySQL, does Zope(2-3-2) (or Python-in-Zope) provide any mechanism to retrieve the names of the columns queried, rather than simply the DATA within those columns? ZCatalog in different languages

Hello! How can I use ZCatalog in different from English language? For example Hungarian, Czech, Polish, France? The catalogized words are cutted at every non ASCII characters. /a', e', o".../ I dont want to catalog the HTML and DTML tags. How can I set it at the ZCatalog. Thnak you: Lajos Kerekes

Dear , I don't usually pass along stuff that's forwarded to me, but this, from a Canadian newspaper, is worth sharing. America: The Good Neighbor. Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record: "This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States. When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it. When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans. I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon -! not once, but several times - and safely home again. You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here. When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke. I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced of the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake. Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those." Stand proud, America! This is one of the best editorials that I have ever read regarding the United States. It is nice that one man realizes it. I only wish that the rest of the world would realize it. We are always blamed for everything and never even get a thank you for the things we do. I would hope that each of you would send this to as many people as you can and emphasize that they should send it to as many of their friends until this letter is sent to every person on the web. I am just a single Amerian that has read this. I SURE HOPE THAT A LOT MORE READ IT SOON.

Change Ownership

Hi, Can someone explain for a dummy like me how I'm supposed to change the owner of an object? I always assumed it'd be on the Ownership tab, but while that shows you who the owner of an object is, it doesn't let you change it. Basically, a the object is owned by a summer student who has since left, my only option now is to re-create a user object for them with a garbled password, which is majorly sucky! cheers, Chris

This got me thinking and I apologize if has been gone over before. Outside of products and special things, how can I create my own 'help' files based upon just a folder? I have 'applications' I have built that are just folders with documents and methods and ZSQL stuff. I would like to add a help file that relates to the process of what goes on in that folder. Like how data is gathered and from where. Order of events for doing things, etc. Stuff like that. Can I just create my own 'folder-help' file and have it added in somehow? The catalog needs to be named "Catalog" not "CatalogAware" and the url is ... http://HOST/INSTANCE/PrincipiaSearchSource where HOST=the zope server and INSTANCE=the instance of the ExtDocument including the path (ie. Problems creating auto-navigation links (LONG)

I am having a lot of problems trying to get a breadcrumb or tree or other page-by-page, automatically generated navigational scheme put into place on my Zope site. I have a sense that I may be trying too hard or that I've created some complexity here that I didn't need to (or that my ISP has done so). This question is necessarily long because I want to provide as much detail as possible. Forgive me for the length of my post. Brevity is the soul of wit but not of Zope apprentices (Zoprentices?). Here's the basic structure of the site: 1. I have a Zope instance (Version 2.3.3). It is hosted by David Elkins at hurrah.com. He seems to be a very knowledgeable Zopista. 2. He has implemented virtual hosting for me because I need to host lots of sites at this instance. 3. One of those virtual sites is www.danshafer.com, which site lives in a folder called danshafer at the root level of the Zope instance. 4. Inside danshafer, I have a folder called OMO. It is strictly a container; it doesn't have a public interface at all. 5. Inside danshafer.com/OMO, I have a number of other folders, one of which (by way of example) is named omoarts. 6. Inside these folders are DTML documents containing essays. OK, so that's how it's structured. My objective is to define a DTML method (presumably) which will be set up so that when the user is reading an essay called writingadvice.html and titled "Advice I Offer Aspiring Writers," there will be a navigation line across the top of the essay page that links him back to omoarts/index.html (by title) and to the top level of the danshafer.com site. The first efforts I made at this had bizarre results. Depending on how I navigate around, I get URLs like this: http://www.danshafer.com/danshafer/danshafer/OMO/omoarts/writingadvice.html Sometimes I get as many as three or four spurious "danshafer" entries in the URL. I have no clue how this happens. This was using an NFGNav object. The link at the top of the page, intriguingly, shows _only_ the top-level page in the danshafer site. This is defined at the root level of the Zope instance rather than in the danshafer folder since I may want to use it on other sites as well. Seems logical, no? Now the navigation area looks like this: Home > danshafer > danshafer > OMO > One Man's Opinion About the Arts Notice the repeated danshafer again. And again, all of these links take the user back to the front door of the danshafer site. So, Elkins at hurrah.com suggested I add a SiteRoot object to the danshafer folder, give it a base of http://www.danshafer.com and a root of "/". I did that. It got rid of the duplicated danshafer's in the URL just fine, but the other problems persist or get worse. Now when I use the simple breadcrumb type of navigation link, it shows at the top of the page: Home > danshafer > OMO > One Man's Opinion About the Arts The first three are links and they all go to the same place: the top leve of the danshafer.com site. This happens even if I add an index.html DTML Document object to the OMO folder, which I find a tad bewildering. But since that's not the behavior I want anyway, that's a side issue; I just thought it might be a clue for someone. So I try a Navigation object called DSNavigator defined in the danshafer folder. Following the example that comes with that product, I put the same code as above into the writingadvice.html page. But all but the last one take me right back (you guessed it) to the front door of the site. Even though there is an index.html page in the omoarts folder, I never get a link to go back there. So there you have it. One of the big reasons I was drawn to Zope was because I figured stuff like this would be pretty easy. It _appears_ to be but in practice I'm having a very difficult time making this work. The standard_error_message worked before then it suddenly stopped working. What could possibly be the reason? Can i change the file name that zope defaultly looks for? Thanks.
