Hi, A form requires authentication data for subscription. I handle this data with a python script and create a new user in acl_user with 'member' role. Till there all's OK. Then I add some instructions in this script to log this new user with CookieCrumbler, as indicated in the default provided "login_form" ... context.acl_users.manage_users(submit='Add', REQUEST=context.REQUEST) context.REQUEST.form['__ac_name'] = form['newusername'] context.REQUEST.form['__ac_password'] = form['newpassword'] context.REQUEST.form['__ac_persistent'] = '1' context.REQUEST.form['came_from'] = 'minimum_html' return context.logged_in(context, REQUEST=context.REQUEST) What's strange : 1/ This does not work 2/ The new user is not created when adding the lines that _try to_ log using CookieCrumbler Any idea ? Sir, My "objective" is only to learn the most effective way to move an older version Zope application from one host to another with the least amount of wasted time and effort. My question was asked of both this list AND the address found at zope.com's contact page. I had assumed (I believe correctly) that how to transfer Zope applications from one hosting company to another is something that would a) be of interest to those who subscribe to this list b) find a knowledgable "been there, done that" answer from among this list's readers. It is not my intention to start a conflict (only to find answers) but I do find it discouraging when I run into self-appointed list cops who impute wrong motives to users or prospective users who are asking legitimate questions. I can only hope that Mr. Barrett's response is not the most useful that I will find from this list. We are having a webdav + ms word problem as well and are also looking for a work around (this is a key feature... almost everyone that I know uses word). We are using Zope 2.4.1 on Solaris and Windows Web Folders (webdav) function on Win NT. It seems to work for word .doc files but not for .html or .htm files Word opens the file read only. The only way to save it is to save it under another name. Changing the default error message on logins

Is there a way to change the error message generated when a user enters the incorrect username and password? We are using the default browser authentication and when some users see "Zope Error" in bold, they quit reading the message assume the site is down. I'd like to return a message that just says tells them their name or password are incorrect and to re-enter them. Can I do this with the default login, without editing HTTPResponse? Or will I have to use a different login manager. Thanks. According to the specs, this java applet does not require a plugin. It can be used as a signed applet and unsigned. (The difference between these two modes is explained on the website of realobject or in the manual.) Edit-on uses only some simple javascript in order to interact with the html form it is used in. The CMF uses skins to control files and code. Skins can be filesystem based, thus they can be used with CVS. However, the CMF may not be what you want to use with zope. They may not address all of your needs, as they can't work with files in the ZODB. For example, if you have an index_html somewhere deep in your hierarchy over riding the default index_html. This was discussed in more depth earlier - search the mailing list archives.
